I've smoked a couple of the FdO Golds and didn't really care for them. I found it had a "chemical" taste (best word i could use to describe it). Maybe i got some lemons, i'll have to give them another try sometime.
why is that a zombie thread, did it post more than once???
No, it means a thread that's not been active, i.e. "dead", and has been raised up again.
My feeling is that if they have good information there's no problem.
Back to your observations on the FdO. Yes, they are main by Oliva as the lowest end cigar the factory produces. Not all their leaves make the QA for the other blends and they still need to make a profit.
The ends are sweetened as you noticed. Draw or construction may not be the best but if you let them sit for at least 6 months the harshness will mellow out. They are my 'going canoeing' cigars as when I'm out on the river I don't mind if they get splashed.
FdO can also be a yard gar.
I always have these on hand. I order 3 orig and 1 maduro bundle from Famous about every other order. I have never had a problem with construction. They are great 'yard' cigars and golfing cigars. At $2 a stick you don't care much if all the guys bumming cigar only smoke 1/2 and toss them.
