Omar Ortez Originals Belicoso Review

First off let me preface this review by saying that there are a lot of cigar manufacturers that would love to take a bite out of the RP Edge market share.

Cigar: Omar Ortez Originals Belicoso (nicaraguan puro)

Size: 6 1/8x52
Origin:Nicaragua
Binder:Nicaragua
Filler:Nicaragua
Wrapper: Maduro
Construction: A very smooth stick with very small veins. A oily wrapper but a bit soft to the touch (these just arrived today so it may have been a little wet)
Price: $3.99
Drink: Diet Coke
Place smoked: B&M in Albuquerque
Cut: double blade guilotine
Light: very easy and a leathery aroma
Burn: very good and self-correcting when it did get uneven
Ash: White/Light gray, held together nicely and pretty flaky
Draw: a little tighter than I normally like but nothing that would diminish the experience
Finish: short with a touch of spice left
Body: Medium (mild side)
Strength: Medium
Performance: Starts out decent and stays consistent. It is sort of smooth and it has a decent flavor profile but it just was not up to par for the money. I will let one sit in my humi for a few weeks and then come back and edit this review. As of now it is not a must for my humi but decent enough if you want to try something new.

Comments: a lacking competitor to RP Edge as of right now but with some age it may be okay. However, why buy a $3.99 stick to age when you can get something like the El Mejors or Consuegras. Not a must as of yet.

Nice review. Why exactly is it competeting with the edge though? Lots of full bodied cigars on the market.

Flavors: cedar, woodsy and just a bit of pepper.

Competition: it is packaged such that it resembles the Edge when you just glance at it in the B&M (no band, wood boxes, same shapes).

I do not think that this one is a competitor as of yet. I will try it again in a few days and add to this review.

Gotcha! Sorry, I wasn't getting it. In many of the b&m's around here, there are mucho unbanded sticks. I see where your coming from now.
