Carlo Torano Tribute 2004 Review
Cigar: Carlos Torano Tribute 2004.
Size:7 x 50 Churchill. Origin: Made in Honduras. Binder: Nicaraguan. Filler: Dominican and Nicaraguan. Wrapper: 5 year old Costa Rican Broadleaf Maduro. Construction: Very dark, oily, beautiful veiny wrapper. Storage: Desktop humidor, 65% humidity, since 9/15/06. Purchase: Newbie Sampler Thread III, 9/15/06, whodat1. Thanks Jim! Price: NA. Drink: Raspberry tea. Place smoked: Backyard, cool and clear, 61 degrees, calm, beautiful night, can hear the cows mooing in the distance, 7:45 pm. Cap: Cap was a little rough, which contributed to small amount of trouble with the cut. Cut: Guillotine, XiKAR Xi. Cut was a little rough. Light: Used new Prince Torch Lighter (Thanks for the buy Rob!) Easy to light, even burn. Burn: Very sharp even burn, ash fell off even with edge. Ash: Dark gray and firm. Draw: Very nice and easy. Super dense smoke. Finish: Very nice unusual taste, probably due to the Costa Rican Maduro wrapper which I have not had before. Body: Medium. Strength: Medium to full Performance: Excellent draw and smoke! Smoking Time: Very enjoyable hour and 30 minutes. Comments: Smoke from the cigar had a very nice aroma. Excellent performing cigar. Really like the new flavors I tasted. Bands were very difficult to remove, but they did not damage the wrapper. The flavor in the first ¼ was very smooth and refined. Second quarter built up some in flavor. Third quarter had a cedar flavor develop with some pepper. Finished with stronger cedar and pepper flavor, very nice! Some reviews noted burn problems, but I did not experience any, the 65% humidity helps. An almost perfect stick, only flaw was a slightly rough cut. Production is limited to 1200 boxes. Could only find one box at Famous Smoke, may have to go for it! |

Re: Carlo Torano Tribute 2004
Excellent review. This is my favorite Toraño by far, in fact, the only one I care about smoking really. The wrappers are probably the darkest I've seen and look as if they're dripping with oil. I've never had the first problem with construction or burn. Great job on the review.
