Re: CAO Black Storm
My experience with the CAO black line was always mixed. I feel like there is no dominant flavor...It is too mushy of a taste...maybe my pallete isnt sensitive to those flavors or mixes but it just doesnt work for me?

Re: CAO Black Storm
Tried one of these tonite after the inspiration!! This is an excellent mild smoke I found. You must like mild to truly enjoy it. I got a 5 pack from the Devil Site. It comes wrapped in a cedar sleeve and under the pinch test revealed a nice firmness, yet softness to it (sign of proper humidity for me as I let these sit for 1 month in the humidor at 65%). When I removed the sleeve there was a slight light green splotch about 1/4" wide, which I'm not sure what it is. I lit it w/no problems. Here are my tastings: 1st third--Tasted like sweet grass to me and very mild. My tawny port overpowered it even, but it was very smooth. Leaves light notes on the palate. 2nd third--more of the same, I kept thinking of sweet grass and then the bomb did drop for 3-4 puffs, when it became super creamy, buttery and slightly peppery. I was hoping it would become more peppery, but it never did. Last third--this was a pleasant surprise as I thought it would get harsh like most cigars, but it never did. Instead it became more mild/medium in taste while staying smooth. The draw is easy/medium and very good. Overall, if you like smooth and mild, this one is excellent. Someone who likes strong flavor notes on the palate may not like it. Overall, in the context of a mild cigar, this is great and for that category I'd give it a 8.5/10.

Re: CAO Black Storm
CAO Black Storm
Size: 5.0 x 50 Tobacco: Connecticut-Ecuador wrapper; Fillers-Nicaragua, Honduras, Mexico Price: $4.70 Location: A turkey fry at Shaun Brannen's house Paired with: Blanton's whisky Cedar-wrapped CAO Black cigars are made in limited quantities, and packaged in hand-painted, hand-numbered boxes. It was the best CAO I've had to date - even better than the Criollo and Brazilia. It smoked cool, with lots of white smoke, and it tasted almost exactly as I remember the Fuente Hemingway from a few months ago-- lots and lots and lots of spice. But never harsh. I'm surprised to see other reviews that call this a mild cigar. I found it to be light-bodied, but full on flavor. Definitely worth a repeat look. |
