Griffin's Fuerte Robusto Review
Well, I picked up a few Griffin's Fuertes a while back, and after a month or so in the humi, I though I would try one.
The Fuerte Griffin's have Ecuador wrappers which was a beautiful light brown with a large white band. Using a guillotine cut (Palio), I tested the pre-light draw. The draw was good, with not much resistance at all. It lit very easily and I immediately noticed a toast taste. There was also a good plain tobacco taste. The filler and binder is all Dominican. This cigar gave me a TON of smoke, which is a big seller for me. The smoke was medium to mild, and did not have any hashness at all, and showed me that the tobacco was well aged. It burned well, and had a firm ash. My main complaint with this cigar was the dry finish it gave me, and that it wasn't very complex. In fact, it was pretty simple. It would be hard to smoke this without any beverage. I usually dislike a dry finish. This cigar would be great in the morning with a cup of coffee. Overall, I would rate this around a 7.8. Good cigar that is better than average when you don't consider price. For $7.00-8.00 you could probably find better, but it is still a good smoke. |
