Punch Royal Coronations Review

Bought this about 2 months ago and figured tonight would be the night. This cigar is 5 1/4"x44. Nice constuction and a fairly oily wrapper. No soft spots. Cut with double blade and the cut was clean.Prelight draw really did'nt have much flavor so I did not know what to expect.Toasted the foot and lit this little stick up. First few draws were uh-oh nothing but kinda harsh tobbacoo but after about an inch it opened up with a bit of spice and smoothed out considerably. Large amounts of smoke and just a hint of spice throughout the first half of this cigar. Had to remind myself to slow down as I always want to smoke these small ones too fast. Second half was not to disappoint me as the spice and heavy smoke volume continued. A few other tastes linger also but I am at a loss to describe them(can you say noob here). Anyway I smoked this little stick down to the nub and i must say I would recommend it to anyone that likes the Honduran profile. It is a flavorful smoke and at $4.00 it is a good deal.

Try the Punch Gran Puro, in a robusto size. Sounds like you would love it.

The punch gran puro and the punch grand cru are excellent. The coronation is alot like the grand cru. Punch ages really well, I've got a crapload of them here just resting for the next year.

Re: Punch Royal Coronations Review

I tried this cigar for the first time this evening, and I am a fan. The wrapping was tight, no imperfections. The smell, pleasant to my liking. As far as the cap and foot not a flaw in sight. I was eager for my first take, and I was satisfied. I will say, this cigar was more pleasing with each draw. Not a bad smoke for the price. I paid $5.00, and I thought it was worth it.

I tried my first Punch ever tonight, though it wasn't the royal coronation. I do have a couple in my humi that I picked up last winter. I came across these in my travels at a gas station, of all places, and picked up a couple of the tubed coronations and a couple After Dinner EMS, seeing as they had them in a nice little display humi and since the cello wrapped after dinner seemed fresh enough, I shelled out a little extra to stow away for when I wanted to try something new. I won't say much in this thread about the EMS, cept to say it was a satisfying and enjoyable smoke. I'm actually looking forward to trying the coronation some night soon, most likely after we get up to the cabin in Vermont. I'll keep this thread in mind after I smoke it and let y'all know what I think of it.

Re: Punch Royal Coronations Review

I enjoy the Punch line of cigars and this one is pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the short cigars so I'd advise the bigger runs which tend to age very well and smoke better.

Ok, I tried em - I like em! I also tried a couple others. I was particularly impressed with the Punch Elite Maduro. I do like a more fuller flavored smoke, but I have to say I am fast becoming impressed with Punch cigars in general. I've had about 10 in the last 2 weeks or so. The after dinner, the elite maduro and the royal coronations. The elite maduro really kinda stands out. It was a great burn and consistant flavor throughout, but needed a couple relights at the end. The coronations had a better more peppery flavor at the end, but I really enjoyed the elite. I tend to lean toward maduros anyway and although it didn't have a really bold flavor I enjoyed the smoothness and slight spiciness of it better than the others. Just wish it burnt as well as the cornonations and after dinner.
