Sancho Panza Double Maduro La Mancha Review

I got one of these in the Canadian Stogie Trade with Rick L. Now some spec's:

Country: Honduras
Length/Ring: 5 1/2 x 44
Shape: Corona
Wrapper: Oscuro
Strength: Full

Drink: Blue Sky Natural Caffeine free Cola

Construction of this cigar is excellent, very dark oily wrapper with a nice tobbaco/chocolate smell. It seemed a bit soft to the touch almost mushy. The smoke lit up perfectly and had no burn issues whatsoever even while walking the dog. It seemed kind of harsh at first but mellowed out a bit (for a maduro) with a strong dark chocolate flavor and a touch of spicy undertones. The strength of the cigar was not overwhelming but stronger than I like or am used to. Surprisingly it left a nice mellow aftertaste on the tongue which I liked alot.

I was expecting something a bit more complex but I think for the price a very good value. Probably won't be buying a box of these soon but this will be on my list for future pruchase if they go on sale (I know they are already cheap).

Construction 9
Flavor 7.5
Strength 9

I may grab some of the regular Sanchos to try sometime.

Nice review. I have had a few of the different Sancho Panzas and I have enjoyed the two or three I have tried. I am going to have to try this one too. Actually I think I have one in the humidor.

Thanks for the review, a2vr6. I've been curious about these Sancho double mads, since I like oscuros. I'll give a sample pack a chance now.

I love the SP DM, can't get enough of em. I know that they won't be everybody's cup of tea, but it is a great maduro for the price. If you found this one a bit stronger than you like, do not try the SP Xtra Fuerte!

Re: Sancho Panza Double Maduro La Mancha

Had my first SP DM about a week ago. A great cigar, especially for the price. Very rich and flavorful. I didn't get the mushy feel, and mine burned perfectly.

TRADE SECRET (FWIW):

I think some of the best prices on these are at JRCigar. That's no big secret, but I picked mine up (as well as some extra fuertes, which I haven't tried yet) at JRCigars auction site and saved a few bucks more off their already low price. Another good thing was they have 10 pack boxes to sample without buying the larger boxes.

Sorry a2vr6. I know that's probably a kick in the NXXTS because you can't get them from JR.

Cheers,

BillyBarue

Try the SP DM Cervantes--same flavors, but in the longer vitola it worked better for me than the La Mancha.

Re: Sancho Panza Double Maduro La Mancha

Thanks, good review.

Until recently (last 4 - 5 months), I wasn't very exploratory when it came to cigars, bought 2 or 3 boxes at a time of those I liked.

There are quite a few cigars I'd like to try now, these are one of them.

Thanks again,

Dmntd

The price is right on these so I don't think you can go wrong with a fiver to try. I'll wait till they go on sale or throw them in with a purchase at Famouse smoke (i hope).

Glad you liked it, they are my golf cigar. Which means I smoke at least 3 of them weekly in the warmer months.
