Olivia Serie G, Robusto Review

Afternoon all,

Olivia
Serie G
Robusto
4.5X50

I had one of these smokes last evening on my ride home from work. I bought this smoke after hearing such good things about it on here. I have to agree. This was definitely a good smoke.

I didn't have my cutter with me, so I punched the head. Pre-lit draw was very nice with a good tobacco flavor coming through. I've been having some bad luck with tight draws recently, so this was a welcome change. I torched the foot and this thing was very nice.

The smoke was very thick and creamy, a medium bodied smoke in my opinion. Not very complex, but straightforward tobacco with a slightly sweet/nutty finish. I was most impressed with the draw and the volume of smoke coming from this guy. The burn was darn near perfect which is really nice in the car...I hate the distraction of touching up a smoke on the road.

The cigar continued to produce a very thick smoke throught, but burned a little bit hot once I got a couple inches into it. I'll say, in the smokes defense, that I only had 30 minutes to finish this guy so I probably drew too many times and too often to really appreciate this smoke.

Maybe not worth the $5 I paid for it, but definitely a deal at under $3 as I've seen advertised on the web. Definitely a good, straightforward smoke. I enjoyed it.

Just curious if you meant the Special S or the Serie O?

I love the Gs and the Os. The Special S that I had was disappointing...maybe I expected too much?

The natty G have a real nice Cameroon flavor. Got that nuttiness and everything.

I think at my B&M they are about $3.50. I've been wanting to pick some up, but was waiting to hear somemore good things. I've never heard anything bad about Olivas. Hmm...may have to pick some up

Re: Olivia Serie G, Robusto

I'm sitting here currently smoking an Oliva "O" Bold Ole which was discontinued last year. I don't care what Oliva says...they didn't match the blend with the new ones. Would take the old Oliva Bold's over the new blends any day of the week. Just my opinion.

Re: Olivia Serie G, Robusto

I had a Special G maduro last weekend and it was fantastic, sweet, dark, creamy, roasted leather, coffee, and a slight touch of chocolate, not to mention tons of smoke. Great smokes, need more.

Someone mentioned having a root beer with the maduro. I tried it and I must say it wasn't a bad call.

Re: Olivia Serie G, Robusto

I had a Serie G nat corona last night whilst playing poker with some friends. I'm new to cigars, but this was fantastic. Couldn't get all the flavours that some people might decribe they do but I enjoyed every last second of it.

Nice, easy draw with lots of smoke. The burn wasn't the best but it usually corrected itself. The wrapper began to peel at one point but that was easily taken care of.

I think it took me about 1 hour 20 to smoke, then my mate nubbed it for another 20 minutes.
