Padilla Achilles Especiales Review

Padilla Achilles Especiales

Size: 6 x 50
Shape: Toro
Wrapper: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Binder: Nicaragua

Fresh from the Devil Site with 2 day humidor rest...couldn't wait. Looks great with alot of small veins. Lit evenly and off we go. Smoke volume is on the light side but very flavorful. Mellow and almost sweet yet powerful in the nostrils and on the back of my mouth. Slightly spicy and stronger than you would think by looking at it....manages to stay creamy and nutty throughout. Definite rum and raisin thing going on as well. 1/2 through and the burn was nice and even except for a few small runs. Aftertaste lingers but is quite clean and lacks the heavy taste some cigars leave behind. 2nd half was more of the same, minor burn issues and more pronounced raisin taste. Overall, I'm glad I have some more of these sticks. My first experience with Don Pepin Garcia or Padilla and I'm quite impressed. Can't wait to have this stick again after a couple of weeks in the humi. For now....8/10.

Re: Padilla Achilles Especiales

Been wondering about these; had the obsidian, liked it but IMO way too raw to be smoked now, needs to wait about a year in the humi.

But I'll pick up a sampler of the achilles to check them out...thanks for the review!

I've had a couple of the Padilla Achilles and think they beat the heck out of the Obsidian's...which I ended up moving to my "for the troops box".

If you get the chance get a hold of one of the Padilla 1932's...pricey but quite a treat.

Great review, I've been wanting to try a Padilla Obsidian but I might just have to pick up one of these too, thanks for the review.

I have been wondering about these as well. I got some off of Devil's and they are in the cooler getting some R&R. Might give it a go come New Year's

I really like these smokes, thanks for the review. But then again I haven't found a padilla I haven't liked.

Re: Padilla Achilles Especiales

Nice review. I pickedupa 5er from the devil's site because I was intrigued by the discription in my CI catalog so I low bidded them and won. I will be happy if they are half as good as your review says.

Now I need to find some reviews of the RP OSG. I won two 5ers of those with no clue as to how they are. worth the chance on sampling especially since I know I like the RP Sun Grown's.

Ordered a sampler of them, they're waiting patiently for me back in Seattle.

My intuition tells me that holding on to these obsidians for about a year, maybe two will yield some tasty rewards.

They're just harsher than all hell right now, but have a feeling about them; so I put away about 20 of them. We'll see.

Don't think you will be sorry at all with the new 1932's. I also ordered the sampler + picked up 3 more of the 1932 Robusto's. Just had to sample one of the Robusto's and was more than pleased. Pricey suckers but really nice for that special occasion smoke.

BTW blow some of that Padilla smoke my way since I'm located about 70 miles North of Seattle.

They are an excellent smoke which will definitely get better with some time at rest. I got a bundle a few months back from CI, with no regrets.
