Thumbs up Tampa Sweetheart #50 Maduro Review

Well I made a call to TS last week to get some TS #500 Maduros, but the women who answered the call told me they were all out so she recommended the 50's instead. So after ordering a bundle of those, as well as some special treats(2 Anejo 55's, and 2 Hemingway Classics Maduro) I got ready to commence the waiting.

They arrived yesterday and I could not wait to try the TS 50. I let it rest in the humi till the evening (I normally allow my recent purchases to rest longer) and picked one to smoke.

Appearance: The wrapper was nice, not too veiny and very dark and oily looking. The color however was not uniform, as the cap area seemed to be a natural looking wrapper and not maduro.

I proceeded to clip the head and the pre-light draw tasted a bit of cocoa and some sweetness I couldn’t place. While toasting the foot the aroma was very nice and I could not wait to smoke the cigar. The draw was perfect and the first pull brought lots of smoke filled with creamy flavors of cocoa and a bit of spice. As I smoked past the halfway point the flavors became more intense I tasted a bit of what reminded me of cinnamon along with cocoa and coffee. I nubbed it at about ½ an inch as the smoke was beginning to get too hot, I think I was smoking it too hard in the last third.

I paired the cigar with a tumbler of McClelland’s Islay single malt that I bought yesterday, and the peat flavor of the scotch paired nicely for me with the cigar.

Overall I would give the cigar an 8/10, but for value a perfect 10. I am going to try and let some of these rest for awhile but that may turn out to be easier said than done. I plan on smoking another tonight as I have thought about it all day.

Sorry that this is so long, I'll try to make my future reviews shorter.

Re: Tampa Sweetheart #50 Maduro

Great review and dead-on!! I'm smoking one now as I type. They are certainly our go to cigars for everyday. I've gotten to where I really like the 270's but Frank is still partial to the 500's. I'm gonna keep a bundle of the 270's and the 50's for me and keep gettig the 500's for Frank.

I ordered 2 bundle's of the 500's today (they finally got them in) along with 2 - 46's, 48's and 49's.

I had one of the 48 anejos, that thing was awesome. I wanted to let it rest a while but I only lasted about 3 weeks. It had hints of caramel. Now I am kind of mad at myself for being unable to fight of my urge because I am sure it would have been more amazing with some age on it. Oh well I have 3 77's I am aging and now the 2 55's. Enjoy your smokes.

Great review, and not too long at all, IMO. Information is what we're all about here!

Might have to give those 50's a try myself.

Re: Tampa Sweetheart #50 Maduro

Great review, thanks.

She didn't have the 500's or 50's in maduro when I called, so I'm waiting. Got some 50 naturals I'm working through in the meantime.
