I have gotten a few of the MX2 for friends of mine who like a medium to heavy cigar, and this cigar is just really heavy. Anyone else who likes medium or mild is just not going to like this cigar. It has been described to me as being like when you first smoked a cigar, it was big, powerful, and overpowering. If that is part of what you like, then this is for you. Otherwise stay away, it's going to knock your socks off

Re: CAO Mx2 Review
bing the manager at my local shop has its perks, we have the Mx2 Anni lines, criollo, brazillia, and gold lines. Ive tried all of the Mx2 and havnt had a bad one yet, i havnt had any of the tastes youve described so far, maybe im just lucky. The extreme is one of my all time favs, love how the flavor changes etc. the criollo pampa is a great PC, billows smoke and its nice and smooth. Hope you all dont give up on the Mx2 line, there has to be better experiences out there

Re: CAO Mx2 Review
My buddy got back from RTDA last week and when we got together he asked me to try an MX2... it was a about 5" x 46. The cigar was beautiful in appearance and the construction and draw was excellent BUT... the flavor was terrible. It was bitter and I couldn't get past an inch before I had to let it go out. I've heard some good reviews of the MX2 so I'd give it another try but the one I had was awful...

Re: CAO Mx2 Review
I have a Mx2 back in March and it tasted a little harsh. I let some other sit in the humi until about 2 weeks ago.
I was a torp about 6 x54 roughly. The taste was much better than I remembered. The only problem was this was a power house. Big ol'buzz factor. This made an extreme look like kiddie candy. One of the biggest buzzes I've ever had. I got this thing down to where the middle of the band would be and I was done. Good taste but a powerhouse. |

Lucky bastard. Allegneny called me to tell me CAO was coming, but it was before I was heading back down to school. The Mx2s are good with some serious age on them. The anny line used to be great about 3 years ago, before Perdomo took over production. The anny maduro used to be my standard smoke. But now, its all crap. I havent had anything besides a Brazilia in over a year. Its a shame |

Re: CAO Mx2 Review
The CAO event was a really good time. I enjoyed it. They were taking 20% off of CAO boxes. It was awsome. I bought a box of Criollo Torpedo's

Re: CAO Mx2 Review
the Mx2 toro was the third cigar I ever smoked. First, a Punch Gran Puro, and second a Padron 2000. I've had one Mx2 since the first. I remember it being quite a kick in the teeth the first time around flavor wise...but my inexperience at the time combined with the cloud of a few shots of vodka doesn't help my memory. The second one I remember had an awful draw, very tight and got little smoke from it. I have 2 in the humi right now that I'm waiting on for a while. Hopefully the draw is better and the flavor smooths out a little.
I can say though, the first one I had was enjoyable. I submit these are not for everybody. |

Re: CAO Mx2 Review
I second all the comments about the tight draw with this cigar. I've had 3 or 4 and every one required a double-draw just to get a moderate amount of smoke. I like the flavor a lot but I stay away from them because of the draw problems. Just too much work....
One other things that was strange. It seems that these cigars are dyed. If you get one wet then rub it on something you'll see a big brown skid stain. Doesn't seem like a 'natural' maduro to me. |

Re: CAO Mx2 Review
I had a Mx2 a few weeks ago and I have to say I disagree with most on the cigar. I found it to draw well, with a nice strong flavor and aroma. I am a fan of strong cigars, so maybe this is why I like the cigar. I will try another one and see if I get the same results.

Re: CAO Mx2 Review
I received one in the PIF and I liked maduro, so it was the first to go. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm not sure how long it was aged before I got it, but I had it about 2-3 days before I smoked it.
The draw was tight at first, but then I used my cutter instead of a punch and that took care of it. After that, the draw was smooth, it gave an average amount of smoke (from what I have seen from my 15-20 cigars smoked, so take with a grain of salt), and it was smooth. I was surprised because I recalled this thread and it did not taste harsh at all. What I was surprised about was that I could distinguish different flavors. Nothing major, just I thought at first it tasted vaguely chocolately and smooth, and then with about 2-3" left I noticed more spicy or peppery tastes. It was kind of cool because I looked up the info on it in the top25cigar database and it said it was supposed to have a bit of a chocolate flavor. I guess this was more interesting to me because I have not been able to distinguish much in the way of flavor before besides yum or ick. ![]() |

Re: CAO Mx2 Review
Arleban has seen the light....
It just goes to show you that you are becoming more a tuned to the flavor of the smoke. Glad you were able to taste some flavors. I had the MX2 in its infancy. Last night I smoked another one that sat in my humi for a few months. It was much better. I guess it needed it's rest.

Re: CAO Mx2 Review
Arleban - That MX2 sat for a while....somewhere in the several months range. Will have to agree with k-guy on this one. I made sure to send a couple different maduros over your way because I had read your thread asking about them. Those should give you a pretty good feel for it.
