Thumbs up Padron Serie 1926 #35 Natural Review w/Pics Review

Tonight I am reviewing a well-aged Padron Serie 26 #35 Natural cigar. It is a 4 x 48 triple Nicaraguan box-pressed robusto rolled by one of the finest tobacco companies known by the modern cigar aficionado. Granted, it is not an Opus X or a Cuban El Rey Del Mundo Choix; however, Padron’s premier cigars lines (1964 and 1926) have from their evolution achieved some of the highest ratings amongst many flagship cigars (Regardless of their country of origin).

Prelight aroma made be drool as I was simultaneously writing this review for my fellow gorillas… Construction was flawless and what veins I noticed in the wrapper were extremely thin and fine. The color of the wrapper was caramel or that of a Cuban coffee and cream.

The multi-colored cigar band of sangre, gold leaf, olive drab and crème brule highlighted the exquisite detail to each and every perforated dimple that encircled the word “Padron”. Next time you pick up a 1926 look closely to the detail of the band.

I decided I would pierce the cap with a bullet cutter to ensure I took my time to enjoy the fragrant bouquet of this pristinely rolled cigar, which under the close supervision of the Padron family was given life.

I toasted her up and flawlessly lit her with my dual-flamed torch lighter. Even the first draws pulled loads of voluminous smoke. I paired this Padron with Crown Royal XR on the rocks, which was my wedding gift from my best friend Jared. Fortunately, I had just enough Crown to get through this smoke and review.

First flavors that danced on my pallet were of deep rich freshly ground coffee and white currants. I examined the ash very closely, which reminded me of a welder’s “roll of dimes” mig weld, but with dimes that were much thinner and finer. Unfortunately, I had to take these photos with my camcorder so the resolution is not that of my digital camera. The photos do not do the cigar any justice. After the first half inch the flavors intensified and remained steady up until the last quarter/nub where the flavor developed into a floral tang and an ever subtle tangerine skin flavor until I put her out. There was a light lingering cocoa finish that continued to tantalize my senses. If not cocoa, that of devil’s food cake mix that my grandmother always made me when I was a child.

There was a light lingering cocoa finish that continued to tantalize my senses. If not cocoa, that of devil’s food cake mix that my grandmother always made me when I was a child. This work of art; this short smoke lasted an astonishing 80 minutes. The last photo shows the carnage of my smoking experience minus the ash I dropped on the rug. I decided to not take that photo.

Overall, a great premium cigar that is highly sought after and to date I have never had a bad stick in this line. If you have not tried a Padron Serie 1926 you must and you too will become a believer. As always, I did enjoy this cigar, but prefer the maduro version. I give this cigar a solid rating on the 1 to 10 scale of a 9.5.

Enjoy, Brent

This is making me want to smoke my first 64 that is sitting but it's plugged. Might have to take a paper clip to it if it doesn't loosen up in a month or so. Never had a 26 but I might pick one up sometime because I love Padron's regular line (Londres Maduro for me).

Great review!

Dude, you MUST try a '26, and the #35 is the most affordable entry into that line. Interestingly enough, it might be the real powerhouse of the line, too, packing all the flavor of the #2 or #9 into an intense, short-ish smoke. You'll use those Londres as doorstops after you try a #35

It would also be a size that I dig- small. I'll pick one up some time but at 10 bucks a pop it's pricey. It better be good! I might be using the londres to make my house if I get hooked on'26s- no more moola!

How do you find the 1964 line differs from the 1926 line? I've only had regular Padrons and absolutely love them. I finally splurged and bought 5 of the 1964 diplomaticos but want to let them sit another 2 weeks (just shipped to me last week).
