Avo Uvezian Review

Had a bad day at work (I am seconds away from quitting). Needed something smooth. So, I dived into my coolador for a light wrapper. Came across a AVO Uvezian, robusto I believe. It was my first, so what the hell, why not. My main concern, however, was how it would go with my red dog beer. The concern evaporated the second I lit the AVO (it has a gold wrapper). The beer went well with the AVO. A very smooth smoke. Reminded me a lot of the Buttera, but had a slight bite to it that the buttera lacks. The burn was very even, the ash a bit of a dark grey. I'm still smoking it as I write this, and I am very impressed. It's one I will be smoking again, that's for sure.

Sorry for the spotty review. Been sick for nearly 3 weeks now and this is the second one I have had in a while (I had a Torano yesterday).

Re: Avo Uvezian

Avo's are Great Cigars... some folks tend to think they are a little pricey, but to me they are worth it.

Good review, and glad you're feeling better. It SUCKS to go weeks without a cigar thanks to a cold or whatever. I don't know about you but I get after only a couple days without a smoke. You picked a good one there!

Thanks. I wanted to pick something new and well-reguarded in the cigar community. Techincally I smoked the Torano first, but I am too lazy to write a full-out review about it (Tricky burn, but clean finish). And I was getting very cranky without a good smoke.I hope I never get sick like that again.

I like AVOs as well. I have boxes of the #2s and the Intermezzos. I keep them around for special occasions.

Re: Avo Uvezian

I am smoking one of these right now. This is the first one I have ever had.
This smoke is way to spicy for my likings. The burn is even and the ash is a light grey, like described above. I beieve this is an entry level AVO, are other AVO's this spicy? I will not be smoking any of these in the near future.

From one retailer website: "The AVO standard line is a the perfect mild to medium bodied smoke. The AVO XO series delivers a variety of flavors in a medium bodied smoke while the AVO Domaine does the same in more of a fuller body. The AVO Signature is for the true connoisseur; full bodied with subtle flavors. "

what color is the band?
from your description I would guess purple or dark red, but you could just have different tastes than I do...

in that case I wouldn't bother trying any of the others - the one you had was the weakest/blandest of the bunch

Re: Avo Uvezian

I too smoked an AVO last night, a Domaine #50. It had been sitting in the humi for a month or so. I've had several Domaines in the past. This one started out a bit harsh and bitter. It was paired with a Koning Hoeven. I'm not a beer drinker, but this is the 2nd Koning I'd had in 2 nights. They're tasty.

The Domaine warmed up and finished as I expected.

I'm currently and always will be a fan of AVO cigars.

I like the Domaine # 10 quite tasty and nubbed! Fantastic light and pretty chompable!
