El Rey del Mundo Flor de Llaneza Natural Review w/Pics
Over the next couple months I will be reviewing my daily “go to” smokes, which I find being cost leaders. In other words, light on the wallet. Today I am smoking an El Rey Del Mundo Flor de Llaneza Natural. It is a 61/2 x 54, box-pressed beauty. Both the long filler and binder are Honduran with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. This cigar is an offspring of what most would say, the most sought after Cuban line. The quality has followed with this Honduran built line. I unleashed her from my humidor and handled her and noticed the quality of craftsmanship mated with a bouquet of quality tobacco leaf. This cigar begs you to indulge.
I toasted her with some cedar strips and went in for the light. I could taste a floralness with hints of wet leather. I told myself, “sit back and relax and the flavor will come.” I mated this smoke with a deep black Guatemalan Casi Cielo (Starbucks) french pressed coffee, which I pressed at home. The one thing that scares people off about this cigar is you can only purchase in boxes of 35. A box runs around $175 - $229 and of course I only paid $175 for mine this last go around. That works out to be $5 per stick; not bad for this powerhouse. This smoke has not let me down. As I let her warm up and get an inch-long ash the flavors started to intensify. Flavors of nuts and cream with a smoothness that relaxes you. Halfway through the smoke the sweetness kicked in; a unique sweetness that made me ponder for the correct descriptive word. I would say that of cherry brandy. As I began to “nub” the last inch flavors became less intense and a little hot on both the pallet and fingers. This smoke is medium-bodied smoke and maybe not for a newbie to indulge in with a virgin pallet. Regardless, I wonderful smoke. I rate this smoke a mid nine on a scale of 1 to 10. Enjoy! I do want to point out something embarrassing , as I was trying to nurture a long ash for a photo it fell and hit the carpet. I painstakingly picked up the ashes and placed them in my Padron ashtray. See the last photo in the reply/contiuation below for the carnage.

www.grantsmokeshop.com has the DCM Stanford's 90th for $22.00 per stick, which is the cheapest I have seen yet. As for your tissue wrapped ERDM the most popular is the Robusto. Try this link below for a picture of all ERDM sizes.

Impressive review! I like almost every ERDM I've had...well, of the DR species anyways...

Hey Brent Way to go, nice review but it sounds like you have just a little to much time on your hands these days. BTW did I ever send you a Padilla 1932 Toro...if not let me know if your address is still current. Have a few packages going out Monday and what's one more among friends, eh? ![]() John |
