Last night, I had the distinct pleasure of smoking a great cigar. I have a few El Original maduro Churchills left over from a box I purchased back in 2001. They've been sitting on the bottom of my humi for quite some time, and last night, I decided to try one while watching "The Two Towers" (extended version).
It smelled great and displayed the usual excellent construction of El Original. Although it seemed to be a bit on the dry side, it was not.
After toasting the foot - easily accomplished with this stick - I took the first draw and was hit by a blast of pepper.
The cigar quickly settled down, however, into a wonderful, smooth, sweet smoke that lasted for the entire length of that great cigar. The last third picked up a bit of spice to go along with the sweetness. Ah, Heaven! I haven't enjoyed a cigar so much in a long time.
It burned perfectly even for 3/4 of its length, then began to burn a smidge unevenly, but it was nothing that a couple of brief touchups couldn't cure. The ash was white and firm.
CONCLUSION: I gotta get me some more of these and put 'em away for a few years!
