Maria Guerrero Toro Review

Today I smoked a Maria Guerrero Toro. This was a great cigar. It reminded me of a Montesino Sun Grown I've had. The look of this cigar hooked me as I passed by in the cigar shop. I like the size of the smoke too (6x56). Even burn, nice ash, medium body and just plain smooth all the way down. I usually dislike the first 5 or so puffs of a cigar but from the first puff I knew I loved it, and there was no looking back. Anyone else here smoked one of these guys? What did you think?

Nice reveiw. Ryan (rploaded) swears that these are the absolute best cameroons out there. I haven't tried one yet though, but that's two people now that love em

Re: Maria Guerrero Toro

Seemed to have come out right about when the Quintero and Quintessa came out. I could look to make sure, but I don't know if they are the same Tabacalara - the packaging looks roughly similar. I read also where Ryan swears by them. reason I brought up Quintero, FWIW they get very strong ratings in CA. Their Churchill was #24 of the top 25 cigars for the year. Their corona, robusto, and robusto maduro all were 88 +. Strangely Maria Guerrero was not in there. Also for what it's worth, over at JR website there is an auction ending tomorrow on the small size Maria Guerrero (4.25 x 44 I think). Thanks for posting the top 25 rating, because I was thinking about bidding on them, but all the sizes on T25 are positive except this one - so will pass for now.

Thanks for the inputs - that is a large gauge toro.

This smoke must be a sleeper... It is like my uncles 66 Nova. I will put this on my list. Thanks for the review.

Re: Maria Guerrero Toro

I have one in my humidor that was given to me by Pnoon. When I read about it, it had recieved a couple of 90+ ratings if I remember right. Anyway I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the review.

There is still a live deal on these from 4 sizes for 8.95 http://www.mariaguerrerooffer.com/

Re: Maria Guerrero Toro

Although I've never had the toro, Maria Guerrero IMHO is an all around great smoke. It isn't one of those names that you hear much about but it is well worth a try.

Re: Maria Guerrero Toro

Smoked mine from Pnoon on tuesday night at the elks club bar.

Construction: Imaculate. Had a velvety feel to the tobacco reminicent of the padron 1926 series. Almost vein free. Firm but not packed. Smelled earthy.

Burn: Not quite Razor but very straight & consistent no touch ups.

Smoke: I am going to post a thread about smoke after this cigar. There was a lot of smoke but was very wispy. Didn't hold together for smoke rings very well but was plentiful and had good flavor.

Flavor: Surprisingly mild and earthy. Not my favorite profile but it grew on me as I smoked it. Would be a very nice change of pace cigar for me from the bold and spicy direction I tend to prefer.

I didn't time it but I went a good 80+ on it and didn't nub it. Probably left 1.5 inch.

My overall impression is I can understand why this is so highly rated if you like this strength/flavor combination. It is an outstanding cigar. Less to my personal taste so not a "favorite" but I can see being in the mood for this specific cigar on occasion.
