Rocky Patel Edge Lite Review

Went to the cigar store with my buddy, looking for a good smoke for his first cigar and stumbled upon some very nice looking RP Edge Lite Robustos. We smoked them together and I think I've got a new smoking partner now. They lasted much longer than I anticipated, about two hours, but thats how I like it with company.

For starters, I'm glad I got the one I did because it was quite a nightmare as far as craftsmanship goes. The draw was very weak at first, and about 1/3 down the way a small crack in the wrapper busted and resulted in me having to burn off a good section of it to bring it all back to normal. Its ash was fairly flaky and a bit of a mess, and near the last 1/3 it went out on me twice.

Aside from all that it was an excellently smooth mild cigar. It had a bit of a sweet flavor that I can't really describe, and ended up being a little bitter near the middle, but that didn't last long. The last 1/3 although it had some lighting issues, was the smoothest of all, and made for a great finish.

My friends cigar burnt perfectly, and I was glad he could see an example of a cigar with a nice draw, even burn, and good ashing (not perfect but better than mine). He was very impressed with his but hit the same bitter note I did and took it all the way down to the nub with enjoyment.

Great Review! I am a fan of the RP line and might have to try this one. Sounds like a good smoke. Price-wise, how was it? Cheap? Overpriced?

$5.80 from a B&M, and it looks like its a little hard to find on-line, so I'd go ahead and say that its a fair price for B&M standards.

Re: Rocky Patel Edge Lite

I bought a fiver at Cbid around Oct. (bigger size then the Robusto)

I smoked one today. My wrapper cracked as well. But the smoke was better then average. I really enjoyed it. The only RP I don't like is the Connecticut. I was worried that the Edge lite was going to taste like the Connecticut but it didn't.

I didn't get the bitterness but mine have been resting for a bit.

Re: Rocky Patel Edge Lite

The edge lite is just a tad weaker in strength than the regular RP Edge. A great stick but it is no light weight as the name would suggest.

Re: Rocky Patel Edge Lite

Nice review. Recently tried the Edge, but have yet to try the lite's.
