Puros Indios Maxima Reserva Review

My buddies and I went on leave to a Mexican restaurant and I decided to take a couple of smokes with me. Didn't really feel in the mood before the meal to smoke but after I decided to grab a PI Maxima Reserva that I had gotten as a gift from dillon157 to try out. And I have to say I'm glad he included this stick in the little package he sent!

Drank some water to clear my palate first, so the Mexican I ate wouldn't interfere with the taste of the cigar. I used a punch this time around on the end and made a nice, neat hole. Pre-light was nice. Sweet scent before toasting and wasn't too strong. Toasted it and took a few puffs; smooth draw, even burn. At first it was mellow, mild, with a little flavor. Though after the first few puffs it started to build a little. Not sure how to describe it though I'd say earthy would be a good word to use, and a little sweet too. A little cocoa, a little spice, and everyone says caramel hints in it too, and I can taste that as well, but not too much for the first third. Mainly I tasted the cocoa and spice for now. As I continued onto the second third of the stick the spice went away a little and it got more earthy and sweet with a little more body to it. Took a swig of the beer I had ordered and took a few more puffs. Same taste and even draw up to the last third where the sweetness gave way a little more to the more earthy and woody flavors. An even burn and smooth draw still, and still a nice flavor right to the last inch. The stick lasted for quite a while, and the only reason I didn't nub it is because of The Citadel's policy of cadets not smoking while outside and had to retire the stick before getting to the side gates of the campus. =(

All in all I'd say a great cigar. Defenitely should buy a few more of these to store away for a quiet evening while out on leave. Try one out and I'm sure you'd be pleased with them as well. And once again, thanks dillon157!

I have some PCs and I wasn't very happy with my first. They tasted raw, so I have settled for letting them cook in the humi for a while. We'll see how it turns out! Nice review!

Thanks! I let the one I had settle in my humi for a week or so and I think dillon let it sit in his for a little longer before sending it over. Time will probably help hopefully. When you give it a try again would mind adding your own little review to mine? I'd very much like to hear your thoughts on this stick.

Re: Puros Indios Maxima Reserva

I had my first well rested Reserva maxima the other morning with a bunch of coffee. I thought it was very very nice, I would rate it on the untalented palate scale about a 88.

got some in a sampler-didn't think they were as full bodied as claimed-really enjoyed the cherry finish though-have a couple back to age, we'll see how those go

I didn't think they were that full bodied either to tell the truth. I was expecting something a bit more bold. I didn't mind it, though, and it was probably better this way since I'm not used to stronger cigars.

Re: Puros Indios Maxima Reserva

I purchased a box of these and sent a split to borndead1. Hopefully he will respond to this thread with his veiws. I really enjoyed the smoke. I give a medium bodied flavor rating of a solid 8 on a scale of 1 to 10.

They are very good smokes. Well made, and complex. I have a box of these I have been resting for over a year. I may have to get into them once the weather warms up. Thanks for your review.
