Noob review: RyJ Cedro Deluxe #2
I just smoked my second of these from a five-pack; it only had about a month in the humidor to settle in.
Pre-light: I think I'm a bit of a sucker for nice cedar sleeves, and this cigar fit the bill. I even like the double wrapper--one for the sleeve, one for the cigar. It's a nice looking little cigar and very firm and dense to the touch. Aroma was pretty standard NC RyJ--mild, slightly sweet tobacco. Taste: The first few puffs had a bitterness that I didn't enjoy. Lots of cedar flavor (of course) and some spice, but not a terribly balanced taste. The cigar got a bit creamier and milder in the second third, but I still wasn't terribly impressed. Nothing to get excited about. Things got a lot better in the last third--a very pleasant sweetness entered the equation to balance out the spice and cedar. I wished the entire thing had tasted like this. Burn/draw: I smoked this while taking a walk, and although the burn wasn't razor-sharp or anything, the cigar held its ash perfectly fine. Overall: I'm perfectly happy to have this in my humidor as a decent 45-minute smoke. I do wish that the entire cigar had been uniformly tasty, though. I think I picked the five-pack up for about $13 on C-bid, so I can't complain about the price. Then again, there are tastier smokes to be had for the same money. |

Re: Noob review: RyJ Cedro Deluxe #2
Nice review. I can never review a cigar wrt taste profiles worth a damn, but I agree with slight sweetness quality of this cigar. I have smoked many of these, as they tend to be favorites of several of my friends that smoke only on rare occasions. I have not experienced any harshness or bitterness in these personally (fingers crossed) and that is why I think my social smoker friends like them so much.
Overall, a good, short, mild cigar. thanks, mike |

Nice review. Not a bad cigar, especially for a beginner. Good price as well.
