Don Tomas Clasico Presidente Natural Review
A beautiful late Friday afternoon about 75 degrees, kicked back under the palapa (link to dedicated smoking area) ( http://www.clubstogie.com/photo/show...o/2703/cat/500 ) with one of my favorite drinks, Southern Comfort/7-Up. Pulled from my desktop a Don Tomas Clasico Presidente Natural. I was in need of a lengthy and enjoyable smoke. This was my first try at Don Tomas.
Purchased at my local B&M for $3.50 with minimum expectations I was pleasantly shocked. I think this low end Honduras made cigar is a bargain. My Presidente 7 1/2 X 50 was well constructed, provided an even burn and produced a mild flavor with subtle hints of spice and earth. The flavor was consistent from start to finish with no lingering after taste. This cigar IMHO was very good and on the cusp of being outstanding. I'm not sure I've enjoy a lengthy pleasant Cigar for $3.50 as much as this one. This Presidente gets my vote. I will go grab a handful at my local B&M before they are discovered.

Re: Don Tomas Clasico Presidente Natural
I've had one of these resting in my humi since just before christmas. A few weeks ago, I saw that it actually made the top 25 of the year list in Cigar Aficiado!

Re: Don Tomas Clasico Presidente Natural
Great review! Makes me want to go out and get some of these! So far, the only Don Tomas smoke I've had is a Special Edition Corojo belicoso. It was very nice and very inexpensive ($4 I think). Gonna go on a DT search now...
Thanks! ![]() CD

Re: Don Tomas Clasico Presidente Natural
Cigar Aficianoado #22 (of 25) Cigars of the year 2006
HERES THE WRITEUP The Don Tomas brand is more than 40 years old and has survived the ups and downs of the cigar market, a change in owners (it went firm UST to General Cigar) and, now, a change in blends. General Cigar, led by president and chief operating officer Angel Daniel Nunez, reworked the Don Tomas blend for a relaunch in late 2005. Dubbing it Clasico, the company's idea is to get back to the brand's roots as a hearty, no-nonsense cigar for a fair price. The Don Tomas tends to be toasty, woody, and slightly sweet. The Preseident is a huge cigar, 7 1/2 inches long with a full 50 ring gauge and has suggested retail price of only $3.95, making it one of the greatest bangs for the buck in the world of premium cigars. MADE BY: General Cigar FACTORY LOCATION: Honduras WRAPPER: Honduras BINDER: Honduras FILLER: Honduras, Nicaragua PRICE: $3.95 2006 PRODUCTION: 140,000 cigars RATING: 90

Re: Don Tomas Clasico Presidente Natural
20/6 Don Tomas Classico presidente
This 7.5 inch ring 50 churchill has a nice Honduran grown Habano seed wrapper with the color of milkchocolate and a full aroma of grass & hay, a nice yet simple band. The filler is a blend of Nicaraguan and Honduran tobacco. The cigar feels well constructed, no soft or hard spots, the predraw is good and leaves a hint of raisin on my palate. The cigar releases a sweet woody flavor with some coffee after anout 15 mm. Coffee and wood keep rotating but every now and then a sweet flavor get a foot between the door for a while. Halfway the wood flavor becomes stronger and right before the turning point, which comes quite late, the cigar becomes salty, close to salted liquorice. Smoking this cigar took me 90 minutes, it’s mild to medium bodied and produces quite nice smoke. The ash is firm and the burn is great. Would I buy this cigar again? Yes, great cigars for low prices, I want more of those Construction: 18 / 20 Draw: 16 / 20 Appearance: 16 / 20 Smoke && ash: 7 / 10 Burn: 18 / 20 Aroma (foot) 7 / 10 Aroma (body) 7 / 10 Aroma (head) 7 / 10

Re: Don Tomas Clasico Presidente Natural
I bought a box of these off c-bid. I like the clasico taste, but the draw of all those in the box is horrible! I can't get nothing thru them, so it's making an enjoyable smoke go to waste. I do have the Henry's draw tools, but haven't had the chance to try them on these yet (plus, the stogie is longer than the tool!).
