Punch Rare Corojo Pita Review

Had this cigar yesterday afternoon. A co-worker and I have been taking advantage of the mild weather and enjoying an afternoon cigar almost everyday out in the workshop.

This was my first Rare Corojo, and it was a good cigar. The cigar smelled great, but was very firm to the touch. After cutting and drawing on the unlit cigar I found the draw a little too tight, but not unsmokeable. I lit it up and got absolutlely nothing for about the first 1/2-3/4". Not a thing!

After that I got a straight tobacco flavor that lasted throughout the cigar, with the strength seeming to dissapate towards the end while a mild creaminess crept in. I would say this is a medium to full cigar. The last 1 1/2" started to get very bitter and purging did not help so I pitched it at that point.

I did notice while smoking it the wrapper seemed incredibly thick. I haven't noticed this on many cigars, but I also generally don't check. I just happened to notice this when looking at the ash, which was about 5 different shades, from brownish grey to white.

In all, I would rate this as a "good" medium to full cigar. I wonder if the tight draw will be a problem with all of the cigars in this line because of the box press. Based on my experience with the Pita, I will probably try the Rothschild next and hope the tight draw was just bad luck.

Re: Punch Rare Corojo Pita

Yeah. I bought a box & have had some tight draws on quite a few. Nice cigar though.
