Joya de Nicaragua Anatano 1970 Marchito Review

I heard that this cigar was strong, fullbodied. And that it was for those who liked the Ashton VSG, which I ofcourse do , and it was the same popular/legendary blend they used in 1970 when the cigar was greatly appreiciated and smoked in the White House. I also learned that these were very strong. So I decided to get a box of Consuls (robusto size) later. But then I got a Marchito of MoTheMan and I was of course very curious what it would be like. I smoked a bit of it... Aaaahhh (cough, cough!)... I cant stand it its so strong!! But I took some more puffs and liked it a bit although it was very strong... Anyway tonight I smoked one too after getting a box (I need em I need em!). It wasnt very complex it was straight forward coffe, little woody and some spicy flavours along with that chili-taste that reminds you of a mexican hot chilli food or indian hot curry food... I cant still understand how it could get so hot/strong... but I liked it... I liked the box and the band on the cigar... The box was very beautiful made of dark brown wood... the cigars construction was good but it burnt slightly uneven in the beginning but that was maybe because i lit it a little bit to fast...

Yes indeed, a real powerhouse! Like little shafts of pure nicotine going to war on the inside of your mouth. I'm not sure of what i like more about these little gems, the pain or when it stops.

i'm going to fire up another one, and i'll let you know.
.....
.....
.....

Not sure yet; maybe another, and another, and .....

I love the beli's in this line and I've been dying to try these little buggers.........now I'm leaning toward getting a box! Sometimes the "little" versions of cigars I really like tend to fall short.........sounds like these are pretty good. I like the idea of buying a box of 50.

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Anatano 1970 Marchito

I have been a BIG fan of the Machitos for about 2 yrs now - smoked tons of 'em. Some boxes are good and some are FANTASTIC. I've gotton ones that I swear taste like a stronger version of an Opus.
If you buy a box, don't even bother smoking one until you crack the box and let em sit for at least 2 weeks. If you don't wait 2 weeks, they will taste like strong, burning newspaper. After 2 weeks though, the real flavor starts to come out - Man they are good!!
Only problem w/ these guys is if you smoke them too often (as I do) all other cigars begin to seem to "weak".

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Anatano 1970 Marchito

I smoked a Marchito last night. I have previously smoked a Consul and I was not impressed. I decided to let the other Consul's I bought sit a while before I tried them again.

With that said, I was a little skeptical at lighting up the Marchito last night, but hey, you have to get back on the horse. Anyway, I was hugely impressed by this small cigar. Great flavor from start to finish and it packed a perfect kick. These will be a staple small cigar smoke for me.
