Sick Dominican yellow label cohiba Review

I was gifted this cigar by a contractor I did a job for. I knew this wasn't a good cigar by most accounts but he was very proud of his purchase ($100 American) so I just smiled and thanked him sincerely.

Well this cigar was resting for a week or two because It was pretty dry when I received it.

I am only marginally good at picking out the flavors I am tasting but I think I got this one nailed. This cigar tasted like I was sucking on the tailpipe of my pickup just after licking my ashtray clean. Needles to say I would give this a stay the hell away recommendation.

In my humble opinion, the only good Cohiba is a Cuban cohiba.

The one I smoked tasted like fresh cut hay. Not terrible, but definitely not in my top 10.

Re: Dominican yellow label cohiba

I have only tried one NC Cohiba so far. Have never had a ISOM anything yet, but this one was a COHIBA RED DOT. I thought it had a very good flavor, and a good smoke for me. The price is what I didnt like, thus me only smoking one so far.

Thanks for the heads up on these. I was wondering what the difference was between ISOM Cohibas and NC Cohibas, now I know

Re: Dominican yellow label cohiba

Just for clarification these are not the same as the cohiba red dots sold in the USA. They are a completely different Dominican only sold there (D.R.). They look just like the cubans only with republica dominica written below cohiba. Imo the red dots are certainly a pretty good gar. Sorry if there was any confusion.

These were sold in the US at one time, but General put a stop to it, and they changed their band.

This is the old US band and the band still used in the DR:

This is the new band they changed to for the US market:

Hope this helps to clear up the confusion.

Re: Dominican yellow label cohiba

I thought the yellow label is a complete fake. Bootleg cigars with bands that say cohiba.
I bought a bundle awhile back and they were ok. What I mean by ok is they were a 5 out of 10 with some power to it. Construction was hit or miss.

So I gave them away to people and they thought i was the man. I did not have the heart to tell them they were bootlegs.

They're not fakes. A fake attempts to pass itself off as a real Cuban cigar by copying the Cuban band, complete with "La Habana, Cuba." These don't do that. They clearly say "Dominican Republic." What you have here is just a cheap and inferior cigar taking advantage of the notoriety of the Cohiba name.
