Hansotia Triple Ligero - Holy Guacamole!

Well, my lips are still tingling a half hour after finishing this bad boy!
Think 5 Vegas 'A' but hoisted up 2 notches.

This is a beautiful jet-black stick encased in cedar sleeve. The occasion was so special, I even removed the sleeve before lighting. One or two soft spots in the middle, but not enough to concern me. Prelight draw after cutting is woody-sweet. Ignition, however, proved to be quite different. It starts off REAL strong, in a grab ya by the throat sort of way. Definitely a strong liquid accompaniment is required, like Wild Turkey or tequila on the rocks. Maybe a gin & tonic. Glad I had my Makers Mark to guide me, I'll tell you.

Heavy nicotine & sweetness hit me between the eyes. Like molasses with a hearty pinch of cayenne. I didn't have the nerve to exhale from my nose until I hit the half-way point, at which stage the sting had mellowed out and the espresso & dark chocolate took over. The rest of the stick was pretty consistent, with a Strong woody & dark chocolate flavor comin' on. Odd thing, though, was a fairly salty aftertaste. Never had that before. Hmmmm. Draw was excellent throughout, with gobs of smoke and a perfect burn. No touchups here, my friend!

Not a smoke for the faint-hearted or Montecristo crowd (like there's a difference).

I bought this 5-pack in November, & let them sit a bit before trying. I think it was $13 on C-Bid, but they retail on Cigars International for $20/5-pack or $49.95 for 15. If you like a real hearty smoke, like a post-TBone steak dinner treat, this is a good one.

This is my 1st review for you good people, but I doubt my last.

I like Montecristo cigars (Cuban, but the Afrique is good too)! Nice review, but a cigar doesn't have to kick you square in the teeth to be good!

Check that. I whole-heartedly agree. I personally love mild morning smokes with my coffee, like Peterson, Padilla Cedro, Perdomo Signature Collection, & 5 Vegas Gold, but sometimes there's nothing like a few jolts of electricity to shake you up and let you know you're alive!!

Re: Hansotia Triple Ligero - Holy Guacamole!

I haven't smoked alot of Montecristos but I did smoke a couple of their Peruvian line this week. First of all it's a heck of a deal at about $3 a smoke...and secondly it had a nice kick. I've steered clear of MC's because I've heard they were a little soft but I let JR's weekly cigar special draw me in...now I'm thinking of buying a box.

Very good review!!! I generally stick to the medium range, but every so often, I enjoy a kick-butt stick. Guess I'll have to pull the trigger on a few of these!

Re: Hansotia Triple Ligero - Holy Guacamole!

I got a fiver from the devil site also, and I had my first last night after a couple of charcoal grilled burgers. It wasn't so strong for me, but had great flavor and lasted almost an hour and a half. It got hot real easy, but I was patient and it turned out to be a good cigar for the price. I bet they age well!

I've been toying with the idea of picking up a few of these, and you might have just pushed me over the edge. Nice review.

Don't know, never had a chisel. Is that a La Flor Dominicana or a tool?
Haven't tried either in a long time, ya know...

I posted in another thread - I really, really like the K Hansotia X3, but i just didn't find them to be all that "strong". Nice and spicy but I'd have to put them at a nice SOLID medium body..but surely full flavored.
Great review on a great stick at a great price

oh yeah, and WELCOME to CS. Keep the good reviews comng!!
