Natural by Drew Estate Dirt Review
I have been doing some pretty heavy cigar shopping lately and while looking through the famous catalog I saw this Natural by Drew Estate line. The idea of them seemed pretty interesting and I was looking for something different anyway. Needless to say, I found something very different. I bought this stick from Uncle Mikey at his shop in VA yesterday and could not wait any longer to light it up.
Prelight Inspection Beautiful maduro colored wrapper with two attractive bands. I cut this particular stick instead of using a punch because I was pretty sure it was going to be a little wet and the draw might not be as loose as I wanted. I put this stick to my lips to check the draw and holy caramel candy sweet blast!!!!! I thought I wiped a caramel lolli pop across my lips. I was nervous this thing may be too sweet after that. Lighting/1st 3rd This stick lit with ease, but as I thought the draw was a little loose, and I do feel as though it was a little moist for my taste, not anyone's fault but I should have let this stick rest a tad longer in the humi. The sweetness I picked up off of the wrapper surprisingly did not beat my palate over its head. I got nice creamy mouthfuls of smoke, with a very earthy, mocha caramel type sweetness to it. The finish was not overly long, and it carried with it that caramel flavor. The body I would say was mild-medium at its strongest and the aromatic smell of the smoke was very nice. 2nd/last 3rd This stick stayed very consistent in all categories. I found the flavor profile to stay where it was in the 1st 3rd and the construction of the stick to be excellent with no touch ups required. VALUE This smoke lasted about 35 min. and this is the category I am on the fence about. These things are 78 bucks or so for a box of 24 if I am correct, which puts them pretty high up there for such a small smoke. Also, I am not sure if the amount of flavor you get from these is worth the price of admission. I did thoroughly enjoy the smoke, and have another resting in the humi that I will give a few weeks and will post to this review. This cigar is def. a nice change of pace for my full bodied maduro only (still new to the game) palate. At this point I would not feel comfortable picking up a box, but could possibly want to depending on how the next one goes.

I had one of these a couple of days ago. A good smoke but perhaps not worth the price tag when buying a whole box. I smoked most of the natural line and cant say i disliked any of them.

Great review!!
I can not speak for the Naturals but I would watch keeping any cigars that have been infused with a flavor far away from a humi with any non flavored cigars.

I did a box split with a friend about 6 months ago, although it was the torpedos. Maybe $95 for 24.
I have smoked these in the past and do enjoy them on occasion, but they really are in the humi for the wife. Out of 12, I may have 1. |

Re: Natural by Drew Estate Dirt
I think these sticks are imbued, which I take to mean, the tobacco is cured in rooms with spices and other things hanging from walls in the same room, rather than dipped in. I may be wrong, but I also don't really think 1 natural dirt cigar is going to affect the flavor of my other sticks, no offense I just dont think my palate is capable of detecting such a tiny inflection of flavor, if it were even to marry with the other maduro's.

Re: Natural by Drew Estate Dirt
I keep these around for the ladies...the sweet taste and small size is perfect for them...plus they smell really nice when burning. I have tried them myself and have absolutely no complaints about them...in agreement though the price is a little steep Our cigar shop sells a ton of them...

Re: Natural by Drew Estate Dirt
Thes aren't flavored sticks - but the ends are dipped in sugar or something.
I have had a few and they arent bad - I just can't get past the sweet tip. I like the natural sweetness I get with most maduro wrappers, so the sugar is an overkill.

Any flavor comes from the tobaccos used, unlike Acid (which is somewhat similar to the Lars Tetens lines of "infused" cigars).

Re: Natural by Drew Estate Dirt
They are great for a little change of pace, I enjoy them about once every month or so. The tips are a little overly sweet, your right, it scares you how sweet it is, and how sweet you think the whole smoke will be.

Re: Natural by Drew Estate Dirt
Just tried one of these...had a nice mild spice to it. It also burned well and had a nice draw to it. I really didn't enjoy the sweet tip, I thought it was very distracting and a bit too much. I've tried some of the Acids by Drew Estate and the sweet tips on those didn't bother me quite so much for some reason.

Re: Natural by Drew Estate Dirt
I like the dirt torpedo, a little larger and I can usually cut most of the sweet tip off. Agreed flavor good, sweet tip not so much

Re: Natural by Drew Estate Dirt
I also like these for a change of pace. I have both the little coronas and the short torpedoes on hand. I get most of mine from Cbid as they go quite a bit cheaper than retail.

Re: Natural by Drew Estate Dirt
I've only have had the Natural version,
but being a Maduro lover, this cigar sounds like something I'd love to try when I'm in the mood for a little something sweeter.
