Olor Fuerte Review
Plucked one of these I got from a sampler out of the humidor after about a month's rest. This one I believe was a robusto, about 5x50, and had a nice dark toothy wrapper, was well constructed with no soft spots, some noticeable veins but not too bad. It took the punch cut very cleanly, and had a very loose draw with a fairly mild aroma and tobacco flavor. My drink of choice this afternoon was plain old bottled water.
The lighting went smoothly, but the first quarter inch or so had a strong bitter and /or metallic overtone which needless to say was not very pleasant. Into the latter part of the first half inch it really mellowed out with a nice creamy medium bodied taste with a fairly short finish. The burn was nice and even, and had an ample amount of white smoke. The second third continued with a creamy medium bodied taste and I started picking up a light peppery spice that gradually grew. I also started to pick up on something else, maybe a hint of cocoa. I did one minor touch up but the burn was pretty consistent, with a nice thick white smoke. I had to cut the last third short as it started raining, but I made it about halfway through and the body stayed pretty consistent and that peppery spice was more predominant. I would have smoked this down considerably farther if I could have. Burn remained even and very consistent. Overall, aside from the first several unpleasant puffs, I would say this was a decent medium bodied smoke, nothing fancy or unpredictable flavor wise bordering on the dull side, with a very gradual transition on the spice level. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to buy more of these but wouldn't turn one down. |

Re: Olor Fuerte
I've bought 2 five packs 10 months ago and thought they were bitter and ignored them until a couple of weeks ago. I've smoked 2 recently and they had lost the bitterness and was a pleasant smoke. They are not on my buy list, but are a decent smoke.

Re: Olor Fuerte
I also fired up a couple of the robustos the past week.....never tried them prior to that and not much time in the humidor. First one was a disaster. I rarely smoke in my car but decided to spark one up and the thing unraveled completely from foot to cap. Not alot of fun to mess with while driving. And I hardly ever have sticks unravel on me. The second one did much better. Still it left we with a meh feeling. The taste reminds me of the Excalibur and Dark Knight maddies. It had a caramel taste that stuck to the surfaces of my mouth.....like a film. Well, it was Ok but not something I'm going to rush out and buy.
