Carlos Torano 1916 robusto Review

Well it was my day off so, I started out by waking up and starting on building the brick patio out back. I get about half of the bricks out there from the front. My phone rings and it is the boss. The other Business Manager called in sick. Needless to say my day off was spent at work. We were busy as hell too.

I got home and my lovely wife had dinner made and the house was spotless. We had a nice dinner and I did the ole' dig deep in the humi and grab one to smoke. Up came this nice Torano 1916 cammy robusto. Well I grabbed my punch and my lighter. Went to the usual smokin spot and proceded to "smoke away" the day I had.

It lit up nicely and had a very smooth great draw. The flavors were mellow and woodsy. Alot of toasted oak/cedar flavors. It burned very evenly. I had to touch it up once. It held a very tight ash and did not get hot at all through out the whole cigar. The flavors did not really change as far as flavors or intensity the whole time. It is a pretty tasty cigar but not complex. This particular cigar was in my humi for at least 3-4 months. I will pick up a few of these when I go to the B&M, or on C-bid. It remended me of a RP 1992 vintage in a way.

Here are a few pics. (for those who can't read)

Been a while since I had a Torano cammie. That first pic of the burn w/o an ash looks great. I think I'll have to revist this smoke again.

Re: Carlos Torano 1916 robusto

thanks for the review. I've never personally cared for Toranos; i find them to be a bit bitter and tough on the draw. Glad you found it good, that's the important part!

I had just smoked one Saturday and loved it. The price is not bad on them either so I can see that I will be buying more. Thanks for the review!

Re: Carlos Torano 1916 robusto

thanks for the review. I've had both the robusto and the churchill. IMO the churchill had much more complexity and more noticeable flavors.

Re: Carlos Torano 1916 robusto

I love the camaroon. Here's a good place to pick them up, along with some other nice Torano's - $43.00 is about the best price I have seen on this sampler:

Re: Carlos Torano 1916 robusto

I just ordered a box of these after doing a blind taste test in the 4 unbanded PIF thread.

Very smooth smoke that I can see being an everyday stick for me. Very reasonable too.

John - this is also one of my favorite "no fuss" cigars. Just good and solid all around. For a little more body and flavor to of my favorite step-ups (also at a good price) are 1959 Exodus (gold band....the silver is milder but decent in it's own way) and then the Virtuoso and Signature series. All have their traits, but IMO if you are a fan of the 1916 you will probably like these just as well, if not more.

Having said that, don't exect ANY of these to make you dizzy. I'd say the Carlos Torano line pretty much maxes out at a solid "medium" body.

Enjoy
