La Floridita Toro Maduro (Bundle) Review

After getting the Famous Smokeshop magazine with these bundles on the cover I tried to see if anyone on this board had an opinion on them. No one seemed to have any knowlege ofthem, so I had zero expection when they came in the mail.

As soon as I opened up the bundle I was very impressed. These cigars all were very dark. Pretty much right inbetween a CAO Brazilla and the Partagas Black. While each cigar had a bit different shade (it is a bundle) the individual cigars were almost uniform in color. Even more impressive they had that oily sheen you see on most Partagas Black.

Since it is a bundle cigar, I saw no reason to wait at all to light one up. If it was horrible, so be it. They would go in the box and be given out as presents or for myself on quick trips.

I was very impressed with the construction of this cigar. Unlike most bundles the roll was very packed, the filler was very unform in color and I could see no holes that would lead to tunnels as it burned.

This is definately a medium strenght smoke. The flavor was very good. Toasty but very smooth. The flavor did not change at all as the cigar burned down, there was not alot of depth to the taste but I did not expect that.

The burn was very even the whole way down and the ash was light gray and stayed very firm. There was no bitterness or overwhelming heat as the cigar burned at all. Which was very nice.

My overall rating of this bundle cigar is excellent. Sure you don't have the depth of flavor, but it was a very nice smoke. The construction is better than most premiums. As for a Maduro call me crazy but I rate it higher than a Sancho Panza. For $1.20 a stick with shipping it was a great deal.

I don't think the brother in law will be getting many of these, and I think these will be in the box for a long time to come.

Great review. Is your review on the La Floridita or different bundle?

I have never gotten a Sancho Double Maduro that was not 'dry' feeling. OK maybe not completely better, but for $1.30 very close.....

Damn BUD, I figured you'd have a closet like Mo by now!

Go get yourself a 120 QT Marine cooler and a pound of Climmax; problem solved!

I have outgrown my 45 QT cooler, its bursting with 350 sticks in it right now so I will need to upsize here myself pretty soon.

WOW better than Sancho Panza doble maduro? Yet you said there was't much depth in flavor? Sancho Panza DM has a good reputation for being a very flavorful cigar. Thanks for the great review.

Better than a Cervantes? Common

Smoke a few more from the bundle before you pass judgement on it.

Great review though Look forward to more reviews by you.

Just picked up a bundle of the naturals, after that review I can't wait until they get here. Anybody try these recently?

Re: La Floridita Toro Maduro (Bundle)

I haven't tried the Naturals yet, but have been smoking the maduros for some time now. I've tried two bundles each of the Corona and Toro sizes and have found the Toro size to be much more enjoyable than the Corona . With the Corona, I found the roll to be consistantly too tight and somewhat plugged. The Toro size have seemed to be more consistant with a nice tight roll that is not plugged . I don't know what it is, but once in awhile I'll get one where you hit a spot where no matter how hard you puff all you'll get is heat and no smoke till it gets past that point. Nice cheap smoke though, just keep expectations at a calm level

Mando.....

Re: La Floridita Toro Maduro (Bundle)

I bought a bundle of the robusto's recently and smoked one right away. The reviews are very good, and I agreed with them. The darw was excellent, the burn was solid with a white ash. The aroma was floral and the taste was like chocolate, spice and earthiness. I decided they need more time in the humidor though, and I am sure they will be even better than the first audition. The price from Famous Smokes is possibly the best thing about these, and I'm feeling like I got a great deal. In a coupla months I'm sure I'll feel even better about my purchase. Enjoy your bundle
