Macuanudo Robust Rothchilde Review

I have been reading for years that Macanudos were overated, and have avoided buying any until about six weeks ago. I sprung for 10 of them at a J.R. auction. They have been hanging in my cooler at 65 RH since I recieved them.
I like the size (6.5X42), I'm kind of partial to smaller ring sizes. I punched this one and it drew real easy, didn't generate much smoke though. I was kinda surprised about the low volume of smoke as it produced more oil than normal at the tip. It burned real evan at first then started canoeing, but was easily rectified. It is supposed to be a strong side medium bodied smoke but I thought it was pretty mild.
For the entire 50 minute duration of this smoke I waited for something to happen--and nothing. No wood, leather, coffee, nuts, pepper, spice or anything nice. Just nothing. Nothing unpleasant just nothing. Maybe my taste buds have been neutralized after oh maybe two or three trillion cigarettes, but I really enjoy the taste of many mild cigars. Think I will keep the rest in the cooler for a year or so and try again.

Re: Macuanudo Robust Rothchilde

I've always enjoyed the Macanudo Robust Hyde Park. Of course the last one I had was the old blend. Never any real surprises -- good burn, decent, though mild flavor.

I picked up a ten'er on c-bid a while back -- 5 old blend and 5 new blend. I can't remember the sizes off the top of my head. Since it's been a while since having one, it will be interesting to see if my tastes have changed. I tend to be leaning toward medium to full-flavored smokes these days.

I should have mentioned in my review that the cigars I have are the new blend.
