Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion Review

Consul Rothschild 4.5x52:

This plumb stout robusto/rothschild has a darker and drier wrapper than the Antano line. Its slightly boxed pressed and sports a more handsome band than the Antano.

Prelight aroma is subtle earth with a prelight draw providing a slight cedar taste. Initial draw was smooth with wood and cedar. There wasn’t an initial peppery burst that is the trend lately and also found in the Antano. There is a strong cedar flavor on the finish with some woody notes. There is barely any spice to this smoke initially. The aroma has a nutmeg cocoa like scent and is very enjoyable. This cigar gives the presence of being expensive, almost Padron Anniversary like.

This smoke is definitely more subdued than the Antano. Approaching the mid point and the burn has stayed straight producing a solid med-dark gray ash. The aroma from this smoke is very nice, cocoa, spice and nutmeg. Great mix.

Past the mid point and I’m sensing some underlying strength with this smoke. What initially appeared to be med strength is beginning to approach full strength. Still a med-full bodied smoke and not harsh in the least.

I would say that this is a fulfilling smoke, very satisfying and definitely not leaving you wanting more, similar experience with the Antano. They both made me slow down my smoking and allow the finish to linger.

Overall, I would give the nod to the Antano for flavor, but this Celebracion wins in aroma. For me this would be a good occasional smoke when I want something different, whereas the Antano may make my regular rotation.

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion

agreed and great review. Celebraccion have become one of my go-to's. No where near the spice of Antano but like you said, the underlying strength is there. I call this full bodied texture with a SOLID medium flavor profile.

I love these, and they are a fair bargain to boot

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion

I like JdN Antanos and Celebracions but have had burn problems. They don't seem to stay lit very long and puffing on it every 20-30 seconds or so is a bad idea I learned tonight. Not because of the flavor but because I didn't have a full stomach and now I feel sick.

Once I sat with a friend on my porch with a couple Antanos and we each had to relight it every ten minutes it seemed. Another thing happened a couple times where the draw started out fine and seemed to get REALLY tight after an inch or so.

I have two 5-packs of Celebracions on the way so I hope to have better luck with them in the future...

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion

I've been thinking of picking up a few of the Celebracions and this just sinched it. Thanks much for the review

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion

Really like the JDNs. One of the better in that price range for both Antanos and Celebracions.
