Olor Fuerte Robusto Review

I received this smoke in the sampler I ordered from Famous:

http://www.clubstogie.com/vb/showthr...ler+%40+famous

It had been resting for about a week. I paired this particular stick with a Samuel Adams Longshot Old Ale (10.6% abv).

Appearance: This cigar is beautiful. Very dark with minimal veins and an oily sheen.

Taste: I used my punch on this cigar and toasted the foot. The prelight aroma was It started out very toasty and remained that way the entire time. Leathery would also be a good term to describe the flavor. There was a subtle nuttiness and smooth chocolate that was also very pleasing. The stick remained consistent until I put it down, at the band. The draw was perfect throughout. The pairing with the Old Ale was spot on. The rich malt flavor of the beer complemented the earthiness of the cigar nicely.

Burn: The burn was fairly even, with only a few touch-ups needed. Towards the end it started to tunnel off to one side, as if there was a vein burning down.

Overall: I was impressed with this stick, considering my expectations. I found it to be a solid, medium to full bodied smoke. Given that it was still very young, it may improve considerably with age.

The only thing that shocks me is the price. $90 a box. This is a very tough price range for this cigar. Although I enjoyed it, I don't think I would be likely to seek this cigar out, unless the price was right. Considering it is more expensive than a box of CAO Brazilia Gol!, it's a tough sell.

On a side note, if you get the chance to pick up the Sam Adams Longshot 6-pack, go for it. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the review, I have been looking at these for awhile but never pulled the trigger. Will have to give them a try when they are on sale.

Me too! I've been curious, just never made a move. I might have to.

I think they were on cigarmonster w/ a travel humi a few day ago. I don't remember the price though. It seems like they go on sale fairly often.

Yeah I've had a few of these from a Famous sampler recently. They don't taste 'clean' to me....by that I mean they give you a caramel, stick to the inside of your mouth taste. Kinda like some of the HdM maddies. Really didn't care for them all that much.

That's a good way to put it. I think they would greatly appreciate with age though.

Thanks! Good review. I bought this same sampler, per your thread. Great deal! I will have to try that stick now that you peaked my interest.

Thanks!

Re: Olor Fuerte Robusto

The Olor Fuerte was one of the first real (Non-Swisher) cigars that I had and it is still one of my favorites. I currently have 15 or so in my humi, they all have about 3 months of age on them and they keep getting better the longer they sit.
