Avo Domaine #10 Review

About 2 months ago, I had a nice little mini-herf at The Owl Shop, and smoked a GREAT Avo #2 Tubo, it was the closest to an ISOM I've ever had. So, tonight, I went to my local B&M with 2 friends, and picked up this great lookin' stick. The wrapper was dark and oily, and the construction was impeccable. We went into the lounge (really comfortable chairs, a big screen TV... a nice lounge!), and I clipped this thing with my scissors (not Friskars, don't worry).

The pre-light draw was fantastic, and the toast went quickly. It lit right up, and away we go. WOW! This thing had a lot of deep, earthy (not dirt, but heavy, grassy tones, but with a lot of cocoa and almond). The burn was consistent, as was the smoke, and the draw stayed true. I would have nubbed this thing, but I've had some bad luck with harshness towards the end, so I figured I'd end it on a good note... scratch that... GREAT note! I would recommend this cigar to people who like a full-bodied flavor without harshness. Overall...

Construction: 9/10
Draw: 8.5/10
Burn: 8.5/10
Flavor: 9.5/10
Enjoyability Factor (hey, it's my review, ain't it?!?!?!): 9.5/10

What does this mean?... 9/10

The Domaine #10 is good young, but try putting some to sleep for 6+ months and they will be great cigars. Thanks for the review, good choice.

+1, I do love a rested Domaine. I especially love the 10s, 30s, and 50s.

Nice Review!

I have had a few of the Domaine Series and for some reason, they have not faired well with me. Maybe they were too young. With so many favorable reviews about the Domaine Series, I believe I'll have to try them again!

Honestly, I don't think it's about age, just preference. Some people simply don't like certain flavors!

Re: Avo Domaine #10

I am a big fan of the AVO Maduro and they remain a staple in my humi. I am going to have to branch out and try the Domaine series.

Nice review,

I always liked the Avo Domaine, for some reason I always feel that they are a bit over priced.

Re: Avo Domaine #10

Picked one up at CI's Herf back in May, had it sitting in my humi for more than a month now. Smoked it tonight, last smoke of the day, and I honestly didn't care for it.

Positives: Smelled like a great smoke on my prelight checks, well constructed and good looking. It burned well.

Negatives: Heavy tobacco taste with a funny aftertaste, rough, almost chemical.

Weird. I expected better.

It could have been one of MANY things... sorry to hear it wasn't up to your standards!

Nice review.

The wife gave me one of these on father's day. Think I'll hold it for vacation. But you're making it hard to keep it safe.
