Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion Review

This was a torpedo. I wanted to try it cause it kept on jumping at me in a few threads in here. So I went to my shop and bought this one along with the Antano in about 51/2 and 48. Three words: KICK ASS CIGAR!
This thing is a powerhouse. Very slow burner, lots of coffe bean flavor. After 20 minutes with it it had only burned about an inch. That's when I started to feel weak. Put some sugar in my mouth, still weak, now I was dizzy. Put some more sugar in my mouth. Nothing. This cigar was going for the KO on me on the first round. I felt nauseous, I needed a bed. I took a few puffs trying not to give up but they felt like if I took a few jabs to my head. As I walked away from it I could hear in the background "Sally come back, your are such a wuss" Laid in bed for about half an hour to be able to recover. Did I mentioned it was kick ass cigar!

Very good cigar! Ive only tried the Consul (?) and I liked it alot... I think its the non-cuban cigar that reminds me most of a cuban cigar...

I found these to be mild, almost like a Macanudo. NOT! Great cigar, but I definitely didn't find them to be stronger than the Antanos.

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion.

I tried one when they first came out, gifted to me by relaxnsmoke. I thought it was quite a bit milder than the Antano, but a good cigar.

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion.

To me, this cigar is right there with the Antano, but without the edge. I have smoked the Consul in both and actually prefer the Celebracion. It was strong enough to provide the kick, but without a little of the harshness I experienced with the Antano. I still have a couple of Antano's resting and will be giving them another try soon.

Both really good smokes!

Thanks for the info, bought a box of Antanos last week, still resting waiting to be tried.

Nely I hate to tell you, but:

You are getting the Majority of the kick the Antaņo has, but it is stronger still.

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion.

Tis is one of my favorite sticks...It is a bit more sophisticated IMHO than the Antano. Great after a big Italian Dinner. I smoked my with a Quad Shot White Mocha...LOVED IT!

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion.

I've smoked several of the Antano's and two of the Celebracion's. I seem to like the Antano line better, the Celebracion's seemed to have bitter taste throughout for me? I chew a lot of smokeless tobacco so the Nic rush from almost any cigar is mild to me but the Antano's I've had did give me a little kick.

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion.

I just smoked my first Antano Robusto. I was pretty impressed: rich, excellent construction. I smoked it down to nub. I usually smoke Cubans, but this smoke compared very favorably for flavor, nose and contruction with the Cohiba, Montecristos and Ramon Allones I have in the humi. The flavor is not like those Cuban brands. It's its own thing, but excellent in its own right.

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion.

I just came down from an hour long buzz from smoking my first Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion. I came in to post and see what others had said about the cigar...Nely, I felt so much better after reading your post! I loved the flavor and smoke, but what a buzz....I actually sat around like I was half drunk for the hour after I finished. Definitely felt like a Nancy-pants, I will reserve this cigar for when I don't need to drive for about an hour.

Re: Joya de Nicaragua Celebracion.

I agree with this thread completely. This is a great cigar. Very quickly has gone to the top of my list. Cheapercigars.com seems to have the best prices on them that I have seen in case anyone is interested in buying a box.
Funny story with this cigar. I brought one to my shop and gave it to one of the guys who work there. Usually when someone brings him a cigar he will pick on it while he smokes it. This cigar he picked on as usual, but one week later the celebracions were in the shop humidor.
