Talking Romeo y Julieta Cedros de Luxe No. 1 (With pics!) Review

First of all: It should be mentioned that this is my first review, also; I have only smoked 5 REAL cigars so far, so there are probably a lot of flavor I wasnt able to pick up. Anyway...here is my review.

Stogie: Romeo y Julieta Cedros de Luxe No. 1
Size: 6.5 x 42r
Wrapper: Natural
Paired with (Drink): Ice Water
Lit with: A standard kitchen match
Cut with: Cheap (actually free) guiloten cutter.

Sorry for the blurry image, dont know why it came out like that.

I purchased this stick at random at my local B&M. It came in a nice wood-sleeve, which I think contributed to its freshness and great structure. In fact, the structure was probably the best feature of this cigar. It cut like a dream (dispite my cheap blade), causing absolutely no problem with the wrapper. After cutting, I fired it up and took a few puffs to get the fire a'blazin. The draw was certainly a little tight, even for me (I like tight draws), but this problem fixed itself after a few puffs.

The first third of the cigar I couldnt taste anything at all besides what I describe as "Earthy." Not a nut-like earthy, but rather...tree-barkish. The Ash was pretty white, and definetly tightly packed. It stayed on for about 2 full inches. Here is a pic just before it fell off. Youll have to excuse the smokey-eyes.

I think this pic does justice to the the PERFECT roll on this stick. No problem what-so-ever all the way to the nub.

Somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 down, I started to sense a bit more flavor. Id call it a spice, but it hit me as more of a mint. A brush of cinnamon that seemed to hit just soft enough to make my lips tingle.

The last 1/3 of the stick is a piece I cant tell you much about. Not because I didnt smoke it, but because by the time I got to it I was WASTED on this thing. Probably due to my noobness, but this thing had me FLOORED. The thing about it though, is that it didnt ajitate my throat, nose, or mouth. As far as these parts of my body went, it seemed like a relatively medium-bodied smoke. However, my head was hit full-on.

The only BAD part of the cigar would be the stiff draw at first, but like I said, this wasnt a problem after the first 1/5th of the stogie. With no flaw, I cant give this cigar a bad review...but nothing Jumped out as great about it either, other then the flawless wrap and tight build (needing no touch ups of any kind at all)

All in all, this was a good; maybe great, but definetly not fabulous stick. Id reccomend it to anyone, but Don't see myself in a hurry to run out and by another one. Overall, I give it a 7/10. But, If I were judging it based only on structure and how well it smoked; Id definetly have to give it atleast a 9.5/10.

Hope you guys enjoyed my first review. Expect a lot more.

It probably would have got a higher rating if I was more experinced. Thats why Id love to see a review of this smoke by a Gorilla with a larger taste-pallete.

Great review... Just share your impression of the cigar, dosent matter how many cigars you've smoked!

I like to keep a few of the #2 in the humi, a slightly smaller cigar and RG, these are an anytime of the day smoke, mild to med in body, and for some reason I always pick up a Tea flavor, weird huh..... but hey thats what I taste.

Most RyJ products are will constructed and very consitant, this is probably the only one I smoke on any semi regular basis.

So this whole brand stays pretty stedy with the good construction? Ill definetly pick up some of the other sticks offered by Romeo; So the #2 is just like the #1 only smaller?

I'm a HUGE fan of the RyJs as a whole. I can appreciate the effect it had on you. the first time I smoked a full strength maduro wrapper cigar - I had not eaten that day. Started nice, but just after half way I was a little green. Lesson learned!

That cigar is a favorite of mine now, but I learned to respect it.

Nice review.

This cigar does actually have some nicotine punch to it, which really surprised me. I felt fine while smoking mine, and really enjoyed it, but about 10 minutes after I finished it the strength caught up with me. Usually, if a cigar is going to nail me, it happens about mid-way through, so I thought this was weird.
