Exquisito Double Capa belicoso Review
A barber pole style wrapper, with alternating nattie to maduro. Some soft spots are evident & this cigar seems to be slightly underfilled. The cap is maduro.
The pre-light tasted slightly of chocolate. The draw was easy, with plenty of smoke, but it did burn a bit fast. In the 1st half, there are notes of chocolate, which, changes to a kind of soy bean type flavor that reminds me of a DR RyJ. Definitely medium bodied. I was about to give up on this cigar being anything but mediocre, but the flavor started kicking in in the 2nd half. There were some nice highs in the sinus, a bit of barnyard, some nutty flashes, with a very nice earthy finish, There was a note of something here I couldn't quite put my finger on........nougat maybe. In conclusion, this was a medium bodied cigar that in the 1st half, other than the chocolate aspect, was quite uneventful. The 2nd half was very nice, with a changing & somewhat complex flavor profile. The cigar needs a bit more filler. Appearance........8 Construction.......6 Flavor...............8 Value................7 Overall experience 7 Score................7.2 Box of 20 $89.95

Top. (Since I'm too dumb to attach to a thread)

Re: Exquisito Double Capa belicoso
A cut and paste of my brief CD review from a while back (for the inquisitive BOTL that you toppped this thread for):
Brand: Crown David Product line: Exquisito Shape: "Torpesito" ( Some call it a Torpedo) Country of Origin: Dominican Republic price: ~$5 It figures that if you start joking around with a few CSers about your frenetic gay stripper predilections , it catches on, and the next thing you know you're wondering if your subsequent cigar reviews might give people...er... certain impressions about you that might validate their initial impressions. That said, after careful consideration of the possible repercussions of the cigar review that follows this ramble of a preamble, I still can't get away from describing the Crown David "Exquisito" corrojo-wrapped Dominican torpedo that came to me courtesy of a certain Kansashat as tasting like a marshmallow. (And no, it's not because I sold Girl Scout cookies when I was 10. ) That's right, Marshmallows: Sweet, rubbery marshmallows. The last time I had a cigar that had any overtone, undertone or revelous chorus of marshmallow taste was when I was on a Punch "rare corrojo" kick. This suggests to me that corojo wrappers taste like marshmallows and that any corojo-wrapped cigar I try in the future will probably taste like a marshmallow. ( Some might even taste like s'mores, but I can assure you I will never admit having had this impression. Cat calls are so demeaning.) But I suppose it should be noted that to experience this marshmallowy goodness, one has to take a strong pull. Take a weak pull and the smoke tends to take on a rather acrid taste with some hints of sickly-sweetness and little in the way of strength -- not exactly what I'm looking for in a smoke. Take a strong pull and you get sweet marshmallows and some spice and lots and lots of medium-full bodied smoke.Thankfully, the draw on this cigar is easy enough that a strong pull won't make you blue in the face. At $5 a stick, The Crown David Exquisitos represent an excellent value, and with a little age, they just might lose some of their bitterness. They probably won't make you want to don a leopard print g-string and go dancing around the house, but they fill their niche nicely. __________________
