LGC Torpedo Maduro (Miami) Review
Smoked this today as my much-anticipated Father's Day cigar and, though I hate to say it as a big LGC fan, I found it disappointing.
The burn quickly became uneven and never really straightened out despite several retouches. I had to widen the cut twice to get any serious amount of smoke out of it. There were occasional hints of what it could be at its best -- rich, earthy flavor tinged by maduro sweetness. Sadly, it never seemed to last and got lost in the burn and draw difficulties.
I deliberately got the Miami-rolled torpedos because I've heard they are better. And I have two more in the humidor, so will give them another try. But, frankly, I find myself reaching more for reliable smokes like RP, Torano and Fuente and may not spend much time on these. I do enjoy the LGC figurado line and the regular line Corona Gorda is an old standby for me. These just didn't light my torch.
Happy Father's Day to all gorillas!
