Davidoff Millenium Robusto Review

Read about a herf crawl or whatever you call it in my town and saw the name of a couple cigar stores I didn't know existed. Went to one (it's a liquor store by trade) and found a nice corner humidor. The humidor looks like the nutty professor's office with boxes scattered everywhere, but hidden in one nook and cranny I found a half empty box of Milleniums. The price was 14 buck and change per stick. I said what the hell and took a flyer on 3 of these stout little mothers.

Later that evening I fill the coffee filter with some freshly ground Blue Mnt and snipped the cigar. Settled onto my bench and fired her up. Oh wait, first I gently undressed her by removing the little hip bracelet band adorning her midsection. First few drags was non-descript, nothing. Let her sit and caught a nose of nuts. Waitm that didn't come out right. What I am saying is this stogie put off the unmistakable scent of a box of mixed nuts. It was the most intense aroma signature I've experienced with smokes. But it would not be the last. The cigar started to pick up some flavor to go along with the aroma but definitely this was an aroma first/flavor second cigar.

I won't say the burn was well behaved because it wasn't. This stick required a couple of touchups to keep on the straight and narrow. I am willing to overlook this based on it's other qualities. After the initial blast of nuttiness, she settled down into a very strong Partagas like barnyard aroma. This was equal to or exceeded that which I have tasted with Partagas Habanos. As I got about half way I decided to take a spin in my old Volvo with a freshly rebuilt front end and new tires. Opened up the moonroof and off I went. I was nearly 3/4 through this stately stick before I thought to purge. The purge refreshed her for the final 1/4 of the track. As I exhaled, the heater vents pushed back the aroma and now I was experiencing my first smell of floral in a cigar.

Okay so far it's progressed from very distinct nutiness to partagas-like earthy barnyard to floral. Yeah, I thought, this is worth the price of admission. Finally headed back home and took a couple of parting drags before tasting a hint of ammonia. Deciding not to press my luck and ruin the experience, I tossed her.

Some people have had some harsh words for this little philly but I gotta disagree. She's a thoroughbred. Damn fine smoke.

I'm in the stage of exploring the non Cuban Cigars, infact my first one was few days ago which I did a review also. I'm very impressed and it was the Padron 5000. I've been eying this Davidoff Millenium Robusto the other day and looks like it is worth trying it base on your review ( Great Review by the way) Mon! looks like I'm on my way to my Cigar Shop again. Salud!

Did you ride out that terrible storm last summer? I used to run around cayman in my jonboat. Went out the marina and would troll the open water and sneak back in between the mangroves to little pools of water loaded with crazy tarpon that were impossible to keep on the hook. this was back a few years. after seeing the aftermath of that storm I now understand how tarpon end up in landlocked pools of brackish water there. Was a mystery to me at the time.

Back to cigars. I tried another of the Millenium Series and while it was not epic like the first (might have had something to do with the two BBF's consumed beforehand), it was quality with a capital Q all the way. Take care.

I took a four pack of these up to Wisconsin with me this year for my vacation. Smoked a couple of them while looking out over Lake Michigan with the sun going down behind me. These are quality sticks all the way. No fancy bands, no fancy boxes, just well cured and high quality tobacco. The above reviews are right on! The Davidoffs are, in my opinion, the ONLY $10.00+ stick out there that is worth the price of admission.

This was the first premium I ever smoked, and while I have a hard time getting past the price, I agree with your review....it's a thoroughbred.
Been quite a while, maybe I will pick up a few next trip to the local. Thanks for the review and reminder.

In my limited cigar career this is the best I have smoked. I bought 2 in May while in Las Vegas and when I went to Reno 1st of July I was excited to find a Davidoff dealer and I bought the 4 pack. Smoked one on the 4th of July and still have three. They are very expensive but when ya like something ya like it and you pay the price.

I have also had the petit corona and entreacto in the Mill Blend-all good. The Grand Cru #2 is a swell smoke as well.

Great review for a premium smoke, Ive smoke one before and loved it. I have one trying to age right now. Its only been in for a week and i doubt it last for much longer.

Had one of these a while back and did not think it was worth the price at all. Very one dimensional and lacked flavor. Then again, I was switching over to the Dark Side at the time and was on a huge full bodied Opus X kick. Now if I'm going to pay a price for a legal smoke, it's going to be a VSG. Put some age on these puppies and try them, they're great! Just my , take it for what it's worth...absolutely nothing.

Personally I think the Dav Robusto is utterly fantastic. Spend the cash and get one or two. Smoke them on special occasions. I have smoked very few NC's that I would say live up to the level that the Dav Robusto does. I have actually had worse cubans. MUCH worse cubans. I would even say there are certain Opus that don't even live up to the quality of construction and flavor that the Dav Robusto does. Also, if you put the age on the VSG's there is no point in smoking them in my opinion. I have smoked old VSG's and young VSG's and the young ones take the cake by far. They aged ones lack the spice and strong flavor that the young ones do. By allowing VSG's to age, you effectively turn a full bodied spicy smoke into a medium bodied mellow smoke. If you prefer a medium bodied mellow smoke then don't waste your money on the VSG, jsut go ahead and buy the Ashton Heritage Puro Sol.

This used to be one of my favorite cigars, have not smoked one in a while so maybe I need to grab one that has been sitting in the humi for a few years.
