Puros Indios Special Aged Piramide Colorado Review

Introduction
This Puros Indios Special Aged Piramide Colorado has been sitting in the humi since May 2004. These 6.7x64 pyramid sticks were rolled then box aged since 1998. Made of Brazilian, Dominican and Jamaican filler with a toothy Colorado wrapper. I bought these for about $ 2.50 a stick for the golfing season last year as they appeared to be very chompable and rugged.

Pre-Light Ruminations
These are baby Huey big boy sticks. Fat, firm and well rolled. Nice medium smooth tough wrapper with a little aged sheen on it. Finally found the Xikar in one of my coats nipped the torp to about a 40 ring opening and fired this bad boy up.

Initial Thoughts
Started out real mellow. Like a Dunhill kind of smooth rich but mellow flavor. I swear the ring gauge on the lit end must be 70 plus. These large sticks remind me of the cigar in DAFU’s avatar. The blend is smooth and mellow however. Unlike many PI’s I have smoked this one did not have that young wet sweet taste. Lit well as soon was bellowing as much smoke as I could handle.

Smoking Experience
These were kind of like climbing a mountain. You start at the beginning with not much to see or in this case taste. They have a nice smooth tobacco flavor until about a ½ inch in when they get interesting like the view as you crest a mountain top. Woody leathery with hints of other things coming and going. I like these subtle flavor nuance changes in a cigar. About ½ way through some spice shows up. It’s PI spice and if you’ve ever smoked one you know what I mean. Hard to explain little cinnamon but only a hint. Little anise but only a hint. Some fruit here and there but only a hint. These have this broad full smoke base as a canvas with little dots of interesting flavor here and there overlaid on the nice woody leather background. Past the 2/3 point things get a little stronger. Little more spice but not anywhere near being called spicy. This is a tasty large cigar which is probably as mild as you can find and still be tasty in this size. Got down to about and inch and nubbed it. The ash was big and bold like the quantity of smoke. These are a great choice for a larger ring size for mild + to medium bodied cigar lovers. Never had a PI that was real strong and this one was no exception.

Final Thoughts
Great golf cigar. Not too intense to distract you from the game, but interesting enough to keep puffin. Nice flavors rich but mild on the palette and tongue. Reyes knows how to make cigars. If you like them mid/full to full these wont be your cup of tea but for everyone else they may be one of the better PI’s if you haven’t tried the line.

Re: Puros Indios Special Aged Piramide Colorado

great review, Klugs. I don't do much golf, but I need a good Poker cigar that doesn't distract me such that I make stupid bets.

Hey, I gotta blame my poor card play on something.

Great review. I've been dying to try some (got a few sitting & ageing).
