LGC Corona Gorda (natural) Review

I regularly sing LGC's praises around here. I've enjoyed Serie R, the figurado line and Wavell maduros. But these are my favorites and I thought I'd do a review.

This cigar was from a box my dear wife and kids gave me for Christmas 2005. The burn was micrometer straight and the draw fabulous. Even a light puff would bring a cloud of smoke and I could leave it alone for several minutes and it delivered lots of smoke upon the next puff. The ash held for 2 solid inches (and I mean solid) before I tapped it off. I smoked this Sunday night for more than an hour and still had almost half of it left when I quit for the evening.

I have a tough time describing the flavor of these - kind of woody, with a little creamy/buttery taste. They can be a little sour when green, but that totally disappears with a little age and what's left is refined tobacco enjoyment. The woodiness intensifies in the 2nd half and the strength goes from mild/medium to medium.

I just find these smokes to be very pleasurable - not kick in the privates powerful (though I don't really see the attraction, frankly), but well made and always a top performer. Now, if only I had another box of them resting!

These are DR. Haven't tried the Miami of this cigar, only the No. 1 torpedos.
