The Robustos sold for 16-19 last 2 times I saw them, Perlas were 13-19 last 2 times. So if you bid early autobid up to those levels, you should be able to snag them. They come up all the time ... so you'll get your box.
I have some CT Shade Robustos and Sumatra Rothschilds in addition to the CT PCs. In my experience with them so far the CT are a bit more flavorful. CI even had cameroons in them for a brief period but I never bid high enough to get ahold of those.

matt,

Have you tried the skinny sumatras? I'd be curious to know what you think of those.

The Perlas just arrived. Construction is excellent, and they have a nice mild aroma. I will surely have smoked one by 6 tonight - undoubtedly on my way home from work - so I'll chime in a little after that!

I had a fiver of the Cameroons (may have a couple left). It was a funky looking little figurado.......not bad.

No Funky, I have only had the Rothschild in the Sumatra wrapper.

Kansas, is the little figurado you have the one with two different tapers at the head, sort of looks like a rifle cartridge or something?

Cool Re: Mild, smooth, well made, cheap cigars ....

Ok, I'm not trying to be some sort of Thompson advocate here, but I must say, they have a couple of thier "own brand" smokes that aren't half bad. I got these in their "Barrel top Humidor combo deal +100 smokes" for $119. I know where most of you here stand w/ Thompson cigars. So don't beat me up too bad. I've tried to find reveiws on these and can't, so I will lay my opinion down and whoever wants to chip in, please do. C'mon guys, I even if you don't want to admit it, I know some of you have had to have smoked a Thompson something before... Here goes:

Thompson CAPA #1 : - These are one of the smokes that have the black label w/ the white TC on them....
The ones I have are the Robustos (5"x50). Price=Bout a buck!

They are quite consistant from one smoke to another. Mild to medium. All of them mainly have a leathery taste. They are constructed good, I haven't had but a couple that have had wrappers split. The pre-light taste is a bit sweet. Draw has been excellent on all that I've had and the burn has been good too. The ash hasn't been flakey at all. It's more solid and silvery than anything.

Thompson Old Timers: - These actually have the same lables as the CAPA #1's....Nice oily wrapper. I think these fall in the natural shade, although dark.
I have the Toros (6"x50). Price=Bout a buck!

These are very consistant also. Although some may have tighter draw than others, this is my favorite everyday smoke. I've only had 2 w/ tight draw. They are very similar to the CAPA #1's in many ways. they look the same, create the same ash, and have the same band...but anyway. They don't have the same sweet pre-light taste as the CAPA's. The flavor in these is more medium-full. They leave you w/ a good relaxed feeling when about 1/2 way through. The taste is of leather and earth. Some have had a bit of a nutty flavor, but most stay consistant w/ leathery earthy flavors with shot of pepper towards the last 1/3. I haven't had any wrapper problems to speak of. I suggest these for everyday'ers.

Thompson Socorro: - Toro (6"x50)
Natural shade wrapper. - Price=$1. (probably $.50 too much)

I'm not very impressed w/ these at all. These are my give-a-ways for the guys that don't know a Cohiba from a Swisher. These always seem to have wrapper problems. I've smoked about 3 of these. The ash is flakey and they don't burn too even. Always seem to have to correct the burn. I would stay away from this one. The flavor is so bland, I don't even know how to say anything about them. They start out w/ hay undertones and finish w/ a shot of Cow manuer. Maybe they just need a year or two in the humi because I've read reviews on these and people actually liked and suggested them. I, however, can't suggest these to an enemy.

Thompson Bagatelle: Churchill (7"x50)
Natural wrapper - Price=Bout a buck

I have mixed feelings about these. The wrappers always seem to come off. Not just tear, but tear so bad, you have to just pull the rest off. They are mild cigars w/ out much complexity. These are not consistant enough to really review either. I've had about 3-4 of these and they are always different. A reveiw on these really isn't fair because I usually smoke these while 3 sheets to the wind at a bar somewhere really not paying attention to the stogie. My wife did come and take a puff and commented on how good it tasted. So did my newbie freind. I gave him one of these and he said it was great! He is quickly developing a pallet for cigars too. We smoke them together quite often. He's my "recruit" Perhaps this is a stogie for the rookie smoker. Large and satisfies the simple pallet. Wouldn't suggest getting a truckload of these.

Cheers

By my money, JR's Genuine Pre-Embargo Counterfeit Cuban cigars fit that description. They're actually mild-medium, although billed as medium-full. They burn evenly, and the ash stays together quite well. At around $2 a stick, they're one of the best bargains I have found.
