Punch Rare Corojo-Quick Review

This is a quick review of my smoke last night. It was a Punch Rare Corojo. It was purchased for me on Father's Day by my daughters and has been resting in my humi since then. I had been looking forward to this smoke since purchase. I had only smoked one previously and remembered enjoying it.

I was very disappointed with this one. First, the good qualities. It was box pressed and I really liked the size. It was the Pita size (6.13x50) and I liked the size. It burned evenly and made a nice ash.

However, I was very disappointed with the taste. To me it was very bland which I didn't remember the other one being. Also, the amount of smoke was very disappointing. There was more smoke coming off the foot than there was being drawn through the head.

All in all, I would give this smoke a 4 out of 10. It is not something that I will buy again.

I had a similiar expierence, although I would rate it higher than a 4. Have you tried the gran puro? Much better smoke in my opinion, both the Rita and Libertad.

I would give the RC another chance sometime Jim. Been a while since I've had one, but I remember it as a pretty darn good smoke. Sounds like you got ahold of a bad one.

Thanks guys. I will probably relent, since I have such a high opinion of Leafhog's opinion. I will probably give it another try in the future. However, my 4 rating stands.

Wow, the Punch Rare Corojo remains the best cigar IMO that I have smoked so far. I had my first a few weeks ago in the Rothschild size and it had perfect wrapper, tons of smoke, perfect burn, and great flavor. Sounds like you had a dud, I mean the smoke I got from the Rothschild was amazing.

I'd be very interested in your opinion on the current years release, L'og. I've tried several this year and the magic seemed to be missing, much to my dismay.

OK - I bought two more and smoked 'em down. They still have that sily looking wrapper and deep color but, otherwise, NOTHING... the magic is gone. They retained barely a hint of the distinctive 2004-'05-'06 flavor I've enjoyed. The jbo review stands as accurate in my book.

It appears that some large cigar company has taken a good thing and made it less good. Imagine that.

Dont give up untill you try the Magnum or the Rothschild size.. Its a smaller smoke.. but alot more flavorful-
