Oliva Grand Maduro Review

I am wondering if anyone else has tried this cigar? This is a nice sized smoke: 6.5" x 50 ring gauge, box pressed.

I've bought a number of these and have been pleased each time. I am a fan of Nicaraguan tobacco and this is a nice smoke. Construction is nice. The maduro wrapper is a little rough and isn't as oily as I would typically go for in a maduro...but the taste is nice. Medium bodied, leaves a nice, crisp taste on the pallate. For 3 dollars a stick, the price is definitely right.

Re: Oliva Grand Maduro

like the grand maduros a lot! They are considerably smoother than the FdO Maduros, yet still a lot less expensive than the O and Master Blends lines.

Yeah...they're DEFINITELY smoother than FdO. I know people are really high on the the FdO's...but I just can't get into them for some reason. The maduro is ok. I was cleaning the garage a couple of weeks ago while smoking one of the FdO Maduros and my neighbor came over swearing he smelled pot. Wife came out about an hour later saying the same thing.

You and I have very similar tastes. Grand Maduros...Sancho Panza's...Inexpensive's...I wonder what else.

Give the Lusitania Maduros from Mikes a try, another great cheapie. They are good when they arrive but become excellent in about 3 months. Unfortunately they are soo popular now that they are no longer $30 any size, however the Robusto vitola only increased to $35.

Re: Oliva Grand Maduro

I am one of those fans of the Fdo Maduro for the $ I don't think you can find many sticks that add up. Except for this week. With a cold everything tastes horrible. The Grand Maduro is a few steps above. I think the Grand has a change of flavor that makes the cigar really appealing. With that said I think the Grand Cameroon is excellent as well.

Grand Cameroon Belicoso is my favorite vitola in the line 5 x 52. Deslish!! Like most inexpensive Cameroons on the market, they don't get quite enough aging before being shipped out. Three months after buying them though they are great. I am down to only a handful from the box I bought last June.

Who knows, maybe the box you got has been sitting a bit - if not there will be 24 more for later!

Re: Oliva Grand Maduro

Ok, the Fed Ex man was here and this is what I got.. One box of Casa Torano Torpedos, one sampler pack of CAO,,which included the following..an Italia, a MX2 --a large dark maduo torpedo (never had one) a Criollo, a Gold, a Maduro, a Cameroon and a Samba..
The Oliva's came in a 12 cigar desktop Humidor and included 6 Grand Cameroons, 6 Grand Maduros ..

I ordered everything from Serious cigars and am really happy with the way they take care of their customers..

Can't wait to partake in the stash..

Re: Oliva Grand Maduro

I just had an Oliva Grand Maduro Robusto...
Country: Nicaragua
Length/Ring: 4 1/2 x 50
Shape: Robusto
Wrapper: Maduro
Strength: Full

It was a good smoke. Some slight burning issues. Consistent full flavor.
Good smoke for the price.
