Don Kiki Red Review

The small desktop humidor I bought from Cuban Crafters came with a bundle of red and green Don Kikis. I never felt any inclination to try them out so they just sat around in my cooler. I decided to grab a handful to take camping this past weekend to pass around the old campfire. While they certainly won't win any awards I was actually quite surprised at how good they smoked. Construction was solid with a fairly easy draw, even burn, and a nice 1 1/2 inch light gray ash. The cigar stayed lit even though it was a bit damp out that night and provided plenty of smoke. Taste was very mild with only a hint of pepper at the back of the throat but there were no harsh or unpleasant flavors.

The rest of the crew enjoyed them as well and they were perfect for novice smokers. I was so busy shooting the breeze and trying to keep the campfire roaring that I was glad to have a cigar that didn't demand too much of my attention. All in all a very respectable cigar. Re: Don Kiki Red

I tried a Don Kiki Green a few months ago. I thought it was a very good mild cigar.

I have not tried the DK Red yet, but I've wanted to ever since I learned that these cigars were the original 5 Vegas, back before production was moved to the Aurora factory. Don Kiki's original 5 Vegas blend received very high rankings when it was initially released. When production was moved, DK kept producing the same cigar, he just changed the name to Don Kiki Red.

I like the reds ok...I started off with the same humidor combo as well. I've been wanting to try those little brown label perfectos.

Try the Don Kiki Brown Labels. They are very good for the money. They won't win any beauty contests, but they've got some nice flavor.
If you sign up for the E-mail specials from Cuban Crafters you'll get some good offers. Once in a while they'll have a great sale on the Browns, greens and reds too.

Re: Don Kiki Red

I bought the same combo myself, and smoked a red saturday night. I enjoy the red labels more than the greens.

Re: Don Kiki Red

If you like something a little fuller, I am a real fan of the Don Kiki Whites. Definitely worth the money IMHO.

That's what I've heard which is probably why I still haven't sampled one of the greens. I tried to pass them to my neighbor but he only smokes robustos.

Re: Don Kiki Red

I think I will save the green labels for myself and my friends when we are fishing or camping.
