NUb Sig/Av Contest Discussion

This is a discussion on NUb Sig/Av Contest Discussion within the Nub Cigars forums, part of the Puff Partners category; I figured I'd make a new thread for people to discuss this contest, since Stogie did ask for one post ...

NUb Sig/Av Contest Discussion

I figured I'd make a new thread for people to discuss this contest, since Stogie did ask for one post per person for that thread, I guess to keep it clean and to help keep the spam down.

Anyways, I was gonna ask about custom avs to promote NUb, but it looks like someone else already got to it. Awesome! I was sad to see my squirrel av go away, but it's coming back now...

That's what I meant by someone else got to it. That wasn't in the rules originally, but someone else asked, and Stogie added it.

Yes I added the Custom Avatar Rules after the fact. Also Sam had no idea I was doing this contest until he called this morning. I knew he would be cool with it even if it is a bit of a different kind of contest than the norm. I think I came up with it at like 2:30 am this morning and just went with it. I was done posting rules by 4:00am so I went to sleep. I woke up at 6:30 am and 9 people had already participated. Wow!

There's a number of ways. For editing still images, you can use the Paint program built into Windows, which is sufficient for some basic stuff. For more advanced editing, you can use Photoshop (not free) or GIMP (free), both of which have many tutorials out there on the net. GIMP is a little less friendly at first, but there's a project called GIMPshop that makes the interface of GIMP look more like Photoshop, which is easier to use and understand.

Editing animated avatars (.gif files) is a little harder. GIMP has an add-on, that comes with it I think, called GAP, or GIMP Animation Package, that can help with animated avatars.
