    Not exactly.

Dr Pepper Snapple Settles Trademark Dispute With Oldest Bottler

It is interesting that this topic should appear here today. My brother works at the US Patent Office, and he was just telling me about this case regarding the Dr. Pepper Trademark, and Dublin Dr. Pepper. It seems that the case was settled in January, and Dublin Dr. Pepper no longer bottles Dr. Pepper. The Sugar Cane only version is still made in a few of the other places that Jim mentioned, but will no longer be bottled by "Dublin Dr. Pepper." I have no doubt that it will continue to be referred to as "Dublin Dr. Pepper" the same way that sugar cane Coke is called "Mexican Coke."

Pity. The forces of darkness continue their juggernaut. They should change it to Pepper-Up, or something, with a note on the label like Walmart and RiteAid chains do: Compare with Dr. Pepper (Corticream, Bayer, Afrin, Noxema, et cetera)". Except larger.

I hate to do this guys. But this is a random rant thread. And I am a pedant. So here it is...

Anyone see a period after the "Dr" on Dr Pepper?

    Anyone?

Sorry, folks. I had to say it.

Yeah, a little ways down the page you see the logo that was on the plant and on all the wooden bottle cases when I was a kid. It was also on the drink machines and my green Dr. Pepper radio.

Add a couple of dials and my old AM radio looked like this:

You don't seem to be able to assimilate just how old I really am, Kyle.

I used to have a green Dr Pepper radio. It was made of wood. Can you imagine a real wood case for a radio now?

Yep, mine was wood as well -- and not plywood, either, if I remember correctly. And that's a "green Dr. Pepper radio", Nick!

    Re: Random Rant Thread

The inexplicable Cialis commercials continue to invade, now occupying virtually every channel and time slot on tv. Watching these commercials would lead one to believe that every male in the US over the age of 40 can't get it up, and that golfers have this affliction before the age of 30. "Golf widow" would now seem to be a newly diagnosed medical condition, no longer simply a wry reference to the husband's out playing a round (har har) instead of staying at home keeping the wife "happy". Who needs golf when you have Cialis!?

Especially troubling are the separate bathtubs. Is this some bone to throw the moralists, like the twin beds in the movies of the 1940s, as they hawk chemically induced boners? I have no idea what it signifies. Maybe they have waterproof cellphones with them and are sexting each other. If this is what is to be expected popping a Cialis pill, I can definitely skip it. I'll stick with just the one tub, if it's all the same to you -- or even a water-saving shared shower. Call me boring and old fashioned. I can remember when men just became leches as they grew older, not the presenile eunuchs portrayed in the ads. Hopefully the downward slide of American manhood will not reach the level of the basset hound, where men will require physical assistance to perform. Or maybe it has already -- maybe the film crew is ready to help them out of the tubs to film the rest of the commercial for video sales on the xxx domain.

Am I bothered by the "immorality" of it all? Not in the least. What disturbs me most about these commercials is the music, the type of beginner guitar strumming one expects from the next door neighbor's teen age son as he struggles with those Guitar for Dummies lessons. Detestable, loathsome, braindead music. You'd need a Cialis after listening to that crap!

Absolutely correct on the music. It should definitely be some raunchy, sexy, slutty rock song, possibly something like "Pour Some Sugar on Me."

Except I watch that video and I don't need Cialis anymore.

There are intelligent people in Louisiana. There really are! There are thinkers and debaters and intellectuals just like everywhere, despite what one would believe by watching the latest round of reality shows. Hollywood is getting tax breaks from our dictator (OOPS! Did I say that? I meant GOVERNOR) to release such garbage as Bob the Exterminator (at least he's a successful businessman), Swamp People, Bayou Billionaires, etc etc etc. It paints a very poor image of our state, IMO.

So imagine my frustration when I heard this on the radio this afternoon:
While Santorum Shoots Gun, Woman Shouts, 'Pretend It's Obama' : The Two-Way : NPR

GRRRRR!!!!! Toothless backwoods redneck puts us on the national news! Not just my state but MY TOWN!!!
