V wrappers splitting

I had two boxes of Vs that I took to a golf outing this past weekend and of all the cigars I handed out and that were smoked, all but 5 or 6 of the wrappers disintegrated. They were stored in perfect conditions for about 2 months. I lit a remaining double toro tonight and about 1/2 way through, the wrapper took a dump on me and I tossed it.

Has this been happening to anyone else??? I spent a lot of $$ on those two boxes and am quite disappointed. I still have quite a few Vs and am worried about the wrappers. I've never had any problems with any of the other Olivas, but I've had problems with the Vs since I've first tried them. The conditions this weekend were ideal.

That sucks. I have not had that problem w/either box of double-toros or torpedoes I bought. Was this the first time you opened the box? Maybe it was a problem in storage prior to shipment or where you bought them.

I haven't gotten to the V yet, but the O torp split on me last night. Not bad enough to chuck, but it split all the same.

I had the boxes opened within my coolerdor and they were stored at 65 degrees/65% humidity.

I'm pretty pissed about shit-canning that much money on cigars that didn't deliver. I'm wanting to take Olivas the next time we all get together, next month, to show my buddies that they really do live up to the hype, but I'm not sure I'd be right.

It had to be something done prior to you receiving them - some sort of extreme temperature/humidity change to cause that severe a problem. Maybe they sat over a weekend in a UPS truck or something - I had that happen once w/a food gift and the end result was not pretty. No matter what it still just plain sucks.

I have never ever had that happened with any Oliva, even the Cameroons, which are notorious for that sort of thing. Weird. Sorry it happened!

That is the first i have heard of the Vs splitting,i have had several, and no problem, but never a box.It must be a prior humidity problem before you got them.Sorry to hear that a whole box is crap.

I've had issues with many of the V wrappers splitting and sort of exploding. I think that they are packed really full and then they just naturally expand. Mine were at 65/65 as well for a couple of months...

That certainly sucks, because the V is an otherwise excellent cigar. I bought a box of the double robusto at the launch event and a box of lanceros when they first became available. Haven't had a problem with any of the sticks.

Hmmmm....I am having a similar problem with the big 60 ring toros. They want to split right at the head. Arrrrrr! Had to toss two this weekend. I bought a box, and that has been a problem with about 25% of them. I have tried punching them and guillotine cuts - doesn't seem to matter. A few have split even before they are cut. I don't seem to have that problem with the smaller ring Serie Vs. Lesson learned.

I have 3 boxes, and so far so good. Not spliting, or cracking. You might google Oliva and see if they can figure it out.

I had that same issue with the G series. Several of them from a box I got on the devil site split on me too.

Hello, Joey. I'm sorry you had such a time with those cigars. I've had a bunch of the V's and have never had a problem with them. Sometimes when a cigar splits like that it's because they've been stored in a humidor with too much humidity.

I hope you get the issue resolved. The V's a great smoke.

Be well and have a great Sunday,
Don
