Nobody metioned Demuths Americas Oldest Tobacco Shop?

Americas oldest tobacco shop is must see and smoke. Sure it's tiny and cramped and the selection is limited by the small size of the store. But any tobacconist that's been in the same location for 238 years is a must see for anyone passing through central PA.

You're from Lancaster? Do you go to Tinderbox?

And yea Demuth's is a great shop. They're the only shop in the county with Opus X's and I think they get Anejo's.

I live in Willow Street and don't get up by Tinder Box very often.

Since I could buy cigars at wholesale via my business I only shop Demuths to help support them. I figure if I can't support the oldest brick and mortar in US I shouldn't be in the business. I'd really hate to see them go under.

Yea, I understand where your coming from. One thing though that's really important to me is the lounges that the other two shops have. Do you know of any places in the city that are cigar friendly? Because I'd definitley support them more if I could just find a place near by to smoke because I usually don't buy that many cigars at a time. Usually just a single for the lounge or 5-10 when it's warm because I can smoke at my house then.

Re: Nobody metioned Demuths Americas Oldest Tobacco Shop?

Short of Rays, Tinder and the guy at the mall I haven't had much time to explore the cigar options or really as much of the of the city as I would like to. We just moved here 3 years ago August and we don't go out much.

Due to some minor dietary restrictions we don't eat out at fancy places and since most bars don't carry what I drink (I'm the biggest liquor snob you'll ever meet) we don't get out for drinks either. 15 Years ago you couldn't get me to stay home, now you can't get me out of the house.

Demuth Tobacco Shop - Tobacco Shop, Cigarettes, Cigars. Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
My friend & I ( from Reading ) have visited Demuth's and purchased cigars there
A few years back Cigar Afficiando did a story on them.
When I read they were the oldest tobacco shop in America and I was only 35 mins. away, I had to visit. We also visted the Lamcaster Tobacco ( Demuth's ) warehouse where we met Jesus and his wife. ( both are from Cuba ) They were rolling handmade's for the store !

I happened to be in the store the day Jesus got sworn in as a US citizen. It's a great thing to be an American, even if the rest of the world, our president and half of our government doesn't think so.
