Let me preface this review like all the latakia junkies on tobaccoreviews.com who feel the urge to post on aromatics; I don't smoke latakia very much. I am a Va junkie. However, in the constant desire to grow as a pipe smoker(

) and also because SOOO many smokers expound the virtues of latakia, I tried Sam's Blend.
I have tried quite a few latakia blends and enjoyed them for about half a bowl and then heartburn starts up and half a gallon of milk later, I dump the remnants. Must be a body chemistry thing. Sam's is different. It is milder on the latakia, perhaps it is the cavendish that counteracts the strength. The campfire smell is there at first light. I always love that about latakia. I never really experienced the perique that is said to be in the blend.
Even after a few years being cellared, SB is moist. Took a few extra lights but it burned cool and smoked smooth all the way through a huge bowl.
While I doubt that this is a turning point in my tobacco choices, I will get this in bulk. Great tobacco!
