C & D BOKER-Or vs. Pennington Gap

boker-Or; Gave my GBD small Apple a good scrub with ever-clear so it would'nt have any carry over. Had the William Tell Overture playing to set the mood. when I popped the tin, My mind harkened back to
" Seattle Washington and The Edge Water Inn , The vannila fudge , A Mud Shark and a succulent young thing with a taste for the bizzare"
and I was screening stems out of a three-finger bag!
This stuff has the texture of a ground up Oak tree!
A little drier than expected. and would probably pack better in a larger bowl.

The aroma was mild in the tin, but nothing distinctive I could pinpoint.
Started well with the obligatory 2 match char & light, only required 1 relight
most likely due to too light of tamping on my part.

smoked alright, not terrific. Will seal it up for a few months and try again.

now for the Pennington Gap
This one I like a lot more,
Nice on the nose upon opening, better moisture content, much finer texture.
I used my 1970 vintage " The Pipe" with graphite bowl, again freshly cleaned.
No eloquent wording here, just " good stuff Maynard"
Smoked all the way down with no gurgleling. and a nice fine grey ash.
It is now on my short list to stock-pile

Where did you pick up the Boker Or? The only place that I've seen it is on the C & D website.

1-800-433-0080

called them direct, and got a bunch of 2 oz. tins to try different blends

besides the Boker Or & the Pennington gap
I got #066 star of the East
#067 Bayou Morning
#841 Gates of Light
all 5 of the Captain Earle's blends
( the Mystic blend has Latakia but not as bad as the star of the east. Honor's Blend is pretty good. have'nt popped the rest yet.
