Lane's Hazelnut

So the local tobacco shop in the town that i'm currently living in (Little Anthoney's Cigar Shop) seems to only carry Lane blends. This is where I get my BCA from but i remember a few years ago when i tried the pipe for the first time I got Hazelnut because it sounded like it would be good. You know, the ignorant noobie purchase.

Regardless, I was going to use it as a car-air freshner because that's what i do w/ all my blends that smell good but taste terrible (to me, 1-Q was this way) and at only about $3 including tax, I guess you can't go wrong w/ a pretty nice air freshner.

I decided to split this 1oz purchase half and half; one half to stick in my car to make it smell good, and the other half to give it another shot since i've recently been worknig on developing a palate.

Pouch aroma is that of a creamy, sweet burley (much like Captain Black Gold but w/o that chemical hint to it... smells much more natural). Filling was fairly easy as i just dipped my cob pipe into the ziplock baggie and filled the bowl about halfway w/ this "shag" of a tobacco (very long ribbon cut). I wasn't planning and getting swept out of my chair by this blend so I didn't want to go full bowl on this. After charring, I got the baccy to burn on a nice "coal" and I was on my way. I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't taste all that bad. I can compare the taste to Captain Black Gold w/o the chemicalness to it, which for me is great. It was creamy, nutty (hence burley), and ever so slightly sweet. Extremely mild blend but I enjoy it. The casing tastes much more natural than many aromatics i've smoked which is great. This blend will produce tons of smoke and will bite if you push it. This is what I wanted Captain Black to taste like. Overall, a good tobacco. I recommend these points if you plan on smoking it:

1- smoke it out of a cob
2- don't fill the bowl over halfway (i've read that it will lose the pleasant flavor after a while)
3- smoke it in the car on the way to wherever it is you're going

A perfect "on-the-road" smoke if you ask me.

7/10
